The pre-transplant eval by SW, goes on the cost report for Medicare reimbursement at the end of the year. Is there anything in writing that states patient must be seen by a transplant social worker? We have a transplant social worker as required however the question is can you use and initial social assessment from the dialysis center to replace the psychosocial from our transplant social worker? I have found out from denials from some of our commercial insurance companies that the report must come from our transplant social worker and the report must state discussion regarding imuuno’s and compliance. Is this a requirement for Medicare as well?
