Guest guest
Hi Sue B., Thanks for the note, my docs were constantly telling me to lose weight and not get fat, because it was not unusual for people to gain 90 lbs the first year. I too thought - not me - I can control it by doing as you said " The Right Thing " . For a long time I thought that I was doing something wrong - that it must be my fault. Weight Watchers know more about prednisone weight gain than the doctors - how strange. It's ironic that we take the drugs and are the last to find out. I think I could have approached the weight problem more intelligently if I knew the facts from the start. I certainly would have saved myself a lot of anxiety and grief. How are you feeling these days? Has the pain subsided? I was happy to hear that the cirrohsis is in check. Are you still taking the cyclosporin? If so, are you getting any side effects? I took it for 14mos. after transplant. I know a little bit about that beauty. The drugs are a double edged sword - on one hand we have to deal with the side effects - on the other - we have to be ever so thankful that they are working. It's the classic love/hate relationship. Our mothers and grandmothers knew best - laughter is the best medicine - have a great day! Barbara A. Guest guest
OK lets see this is what I ate today and this is how I eat every single day. I ate no breakfast(usually honey nut cherios)and a yogurt. For lunch I had that spicy bowl soup and some summer sausage..and dinner was a small pizza made with a 1/2 of english muffin, sauce, mozzerella cheese (lots), and a big bowl of banana pudding. I did no work out, and was on the computer almost all day making sure that the stuff I bought online was ordered and looking up different thyroid meds. I'm going to ask my doc to start me on 1/2 or 1 grain of Armour. I bought some work out tapes and a mat, and a jump rope. It's a start. -- Robyn <robyn212201@...> wrote: > I've done weight watchers and I think it is a very > good diet. It also encourages you to work out > becuase you get more to eat if you do. Guest guest
Never miss breakfast. This is a common mistake made by people on a diet.Skipping breakfast slows down the metabolism as the body tries to preserve calorie consumption. Also, since you have'nt eaten for almost 14-16 hours (after skipping brakfast), you will tend to eat more at night which is not desirable as there is no calorie consumption after dinner. Breakfast is the most important meal and should never be missed.Dinner should be the lightest and may be skipped. The dinner you ate (lots of cheese and banana pudding!!) is full of sugar and concentrated calories. You will not get a sound sleep after consuming such a heavy meal and will feel sick in the morning beause of the high sugar intake. Not to forget the acumulation of calories due to lack of exercise at night. Guest guest
Yeah, that's true. One of my friend's eats sugar and fats like there is no tomorrow but you have to see to believe how skinny she is. But I would still say that there are good eating habbits and bad ones.Just because one keeps healthy on unhealthy food does'nt make it ok for everybody. Guest guest
You are not going to believe this but I feel a little better already! I've been drinking 60oz. of water a day for only 2 days and I can feel a difference already??? I know I should drink more but, I HATE WATER!!! If you ever drank water from New Orleans it would turn you away from ALL WATER! I've been just closing my eyes and chugging it down. I'm full too. I hear people talking about drinking water all the time and think.....water won't make that big of a difference, but I guess it does. I'm tired of being pathetic and now I'm in my mad phase. I'm trying to be strong...hope I don't run out of guts! --- Kerry Ann Faithfull <kerry@...> wrote: > Ha Ha ....you go girl....let us know how you go - > we'll be happy for you > if it works and supportive if it doesn't! > Kerry > > Re: Weight watchers > > > Honey Please! Guest guest
Rainwater? That sounds really cool. How is that? Heck it's really free water! Guest guest
well we live in the country so we don't filter it as the air is good here - but if I was in a city I would use a filter. Guest guest
Yes, once upon a time I did weight watchers. The best thing about it is that you get to buy your own food, so you can eat things without preservatives and additives. And they have great support. Go for it. They really help you with making wise choices and they encourage mild exercise. Lynda At 01:18 PM 12/17/2005, you wrote: >Ladies, I know this isn't about breast implants but it kind of is. Guest guest
Thanks Lynda! I tried prescription diet pills for awhile, but I gained the weight right back. I don't think they are healthy, either. So I am going this route. > >Ladies, I know this isn't about breast implants but it kind of is. Guest guest
Dehydration can absolutely contribute to fatigue, so increasing your intake if it has been insufficient is great! Be sure and space it out a bit....remember NOT to EAT and drink at the same time..this dilutes your stomach acid, and your food will not be properly broken down before moving out of the stomach. Give yourself at least thirty minutes between eating and drinking. (an hour is preferable) Remember, your body can only absorb about six to eight ounces per hour, and the rest will just give your kidneys too much to do. best of luck to you! Guest guest
Thanks a bunch! Everybody says I'm weird but I never drink while I'm eating ! I didn't know about the stomach acid thing. My parents FORBID me to drink while I was eating as a child and it just stuck with me. They just thought that drinking made me full and I wouldn't eat. But I also don't drink as much fluids as other people do.....until now. Thanks for the advise because I was just chugging it down at one time cause I hate it so much that I just wanted to get it over with. As much as I hate to I'll space it out. --- Aprilcupcake@... wrote: > Dehydration can absolutely contribute to fatigue, so > increasing your > intake if it has been insufficient is great! > > Be sure and space it out a bit....remember NOT to > EAT and drink at the same > time..this dilutes your stomach acid, and your food > will not be properly > broken > down before moving out of the stomach. Guest guest
I have been a lifetime member for 18 years. I have had 10 surgeries (ankle, hip, and one spine) with no weight gain. I weigh 138 and I too am proud that weight has not caused any problems in my recoveries. 50 pounds is alot to lose and it takes hard work. congratulations on making your body as healthy as it can be ---------- Sent from AT & T's Wireless network using Mobile Email - Weight Watchers Hey, everyone! It's been a long time since I posted. I had my third back surgery about a year ago. I joined Weight Watchers in September, and I've lost almost 55 pounds. I only have a few more pounds to be in a normal BMI. I've been overweight for 17 years beginning with my first pregnancy. I love Weight Watchers! I sustained nerve damage in my leg after my back collapsed the second time and again last year. I've been unable to exercise including walking for exercise. I could walk around the house and the store for short distance before the discomfort would get pretty bad. I don't know if it's the weight loss or just time or a combination of both, but I've been walking for 2 weeks now. I've built up to walking 23 minutes (1.36 miles). I feel great! My leg still has the nerve damage, and I still " feel " it, but I don't have the same amount of discomfort at all. I'm actually enjoying my walks. I know I wouldn't be where I am now without the weight loss. People are amazed I could lose the weight without exercising, and I wasn't hungry. If any of you are in the same boat I was, I want to encourage you to try Weight Watchers yourself. I know being able to walk again is going to do wonderful things for my back not to mention just making me feel so much better in general. Guest guest
Terry, Congratulations on achieving something so amazing. Losing that much weight will have several major positive impacts on your health, as you're already seeing. I too lost quite a bit of weight prior to my recent surgery (and mode after), and it makes life so much easier to not have to carry around so much weight, and while I didn't notice the difference in pain pre-surgery, I'm sure it would have been worse after surgery had I not lost that weight. Plus, it makes it trickier for the surgeon when you are heavier, so anything you can do to increase the chances of success of a surgery is worth it. Ok, enough rambling. Sorry about that. Again, congratulations!
