Cherie I'm sorry to hear your still not feeling well. Were there any

signs when your implants were removed that there was anything wrong

with them?? What were your symptoms before explant? I'm getting

ready to have my implants removed and I have a lot of symptoms no

one else seems to. It's been a year and nothing else that I've tried

has made a difference. So this is my last options and I hate to take

it but even if it's not what is making me sick at least it's not in

question anymore. I hope you begin to feel better soon and stay

positive!

Cherie,

You have apologized before for asking for help. You need to remember that's

why we're all here, to help one another. Don't feel bad, EVER, for reaching

out. We all want you to feel better and will do whatever we can to help

you.

Can you describe your symptoms? What is your typical diet like? What

supplements have you tried and how long did you stay on them for? What

symptoms did you have pre-explant and how about now? If you can answer

these questions, I'm sure we can help you. :) Your cold is definitely not

helping matters, it makes you feel plain crappy allover. Do you tend to get

many colds?

Some women take longer to heal than others. Although I never had implants,

I had very similar symptoms and it took months to feel better, not weeks.

Everyone's body is different and responds differently to treatment. Your

liver could be highly congested, as mine was, and take longer to clean up.

Please don't give up and do try to help us help you. Take care,

Cherie...please don't feel like you can't share with us! That is the

whole point of this site, we need to share the good and bad. That is

why I shared my pics of my breasts after just 2 weeks (at that time

I was a mess, so not happy with the puckering and scars...it

literally looked like a 2 yr old took a knife to my nipple! i was so

scared and cried..but needed to share my experience with everyone

because i think it is important to share the truth!) I know cosmetic

wise things are getting better day by day, I have been lucky

physically after my explant though. I don't know what to say except

everone is going to heal differantly...maybe your body is just

taking a longer time to heal? Sorry that I don't have any great

advise to share with you..i Just want to let you know we are here

for you no matter what and I hope you feel better very soon! Keeping

you in my prayers as well.

Hi Cherie - don't worry that you're alone in this, and I was

wondering if you weren't posting much because you weren't feeling

well. I'm still struggling, too - we're all different and it takes

us all different amounts of time to heal. We had some pretty toxic

stuff in our bodies, and some of us have stronger immune systems

than others so therefore might feel better quicker. Plus I would

think the healing time depends on how much damage was done while the

implants were in our bodies. I have a wimpy immune system, and I

know when anything drastic happens to me, it takes me months and

months before I'm improved. I'm sorry you're feeling worse, but

please just continue to take good care of yourself. My joints are

still swelling on and off, I'm still getting the headaches. My

fingertips haven't been numb and painful since the surgery, and my

blood pressure dropped, so I'm considering those as good signs, but

I know it's going to take a while before the other symptoms

disappear and I'm trying to be patient. You had mentioned you were

taking some type of steroids before the surgery and stopped

afterwards (if my memory is correct), so I'm wondering if the reason

why you're feeling worse is because you stopped the steroids and

you're feeling some of the pain that have been masked by the

steroids (but I wouldn't go back on them).

Thanks guys. The support definitely helps. I guess one reason for

not posting is that I would like to help others too, but I guess

it's just too soon for me.

asked about my symptoms, which most of you already know,

but my symptoms before were mostly of pain in my left upper chest -

actually diagnosed with arthritis in my left sternoclavicular joint,

the pain was also near my left shoulder blade, collar bone and neck

area. You don't realize how much you use that area, everytime you

move your head or arms, and it is terrible pain. The bone scan and

CT scan read so severe on that left side. Funny since explant it

has switched sides - completely. The left side is almost completely

better. I would also get a burning fatigue through my body on short

exertion - though I was still able to exercise regularly. Over the

last few years, I have also had frightening dizzy spells when

driving, and many fibromyalgia symptoms. I would agree with my

husband when he said I lost my countenance and just looked tired and

not well most of the time. I have gone through long spells of an

inability to fall asleep, though I don't have that symptom now. I

also have an unexplained 20 pound weight gain, which will not come

off, no matter what I do. I also itch like crazy and have terrible

allergies when I don't take Benadryl. Also have many allergies to

food and medicines.

My diet since explant consists of organic fruits and vegies (I also

juice twice a day), eggs and chicken or beef that is free of growth

hormones or antibiotics, I say away from anything with preservatives

or bleached flour. I try to eat nuts too for protein, and sometimes

a Balance Bar. I drink about 64 ounces of bottled water a day, no

soda or other drinks. My big weakness is coffee, and drink either

decaf or light, a couple cups a day with my favorite french vanilla

creamer (hard to give up). Another weakness would be sweet

cravings, and though I buy natural products, I still eat like

cookies and crackers. If we go out to eat, all my efforts are

useless, because I know they don't use healthy foods. I exercise

every day, and feel much better moving than sitting still.

Before explant, about once or twice a year, the docs would give me

Prednisone (maybe a 2 week taper) - which took all my pain,

allergies, everything away. Gradually it would come back. A few

months ago, when diagnosed with arthritis, they wanted to put me

permanently on potent toxic drugs -permanently, and I refused.

Shortly after I went to see a natural doc/chiropractor. He seems

like a good doc, however, nothing he did made me well, in fact, I

felt worse every time I saw him, and felt worse on the supplements

he had me on. More than a week ago, I stopped taking everything he

had me on and decided not to go back for now. I also didn't feel

right spending sooo much money on the many supplements. Right now

I'm not taking anything.

, I agree that having the implants out is a step in the

right direction. We try to rule out everything it could possibly

be, don't we? Wouldn't it be funny if all I needed to do was change

my diet or something? As sensitive as I am to everything - no

matter what, I know the implants were hurting and not helping me.

Sis - I do still want to meet for lunch next Friday. Looking very

forward to it.

a blessing to be able to be so encouraging to everyone!

Cherie,

Please, please don't be impatient to feel better! You are really

only just beginning to heal, and to see any major improvements yet

would be a miracle. We do have some women who have had a lifting of

some symptoms immediately....I was very jealous of them, because I

sure didn't!!

Cherie, it took me over 4 years to feel really good again. I know

you've all heard me say it over and over again, and I know I must

sound like a broken record about that. But listen to me....(I don't

want to discourage you, but only to help you see how this healing

journey unfolds for some women)....even at 18 months post explant, I

still felt very poisoned. 18 months. That is a year and a half of

feeling like I was dying. How far are you from explant? Not quite

18 months yet? I know we all heal at different rates, and some get

lucky and heal much faster. But if you are a slow healer like I was,

then please, please do not stress about this! Do not start

questioning the wisdom of your decision to remove the implants.

That is the work of the dark side. Doubt is his greatest weapon.

Often there were times when I seriously wondered if I was ever going

to get better. I remember going to the park with my husband and

kids and watching them run around and having a good time and I just

wanted to bawl because I had waited so long to feel good again, and

I STILL wasn't there. They wanted me to play with them, and I just

couldn't. I felt like I had a bowling ball on my shoulders.

I had done alot of detoxing. I had spent a wad of money. Some

symptoms were worse. But some were better, and I knew in my heart

that God had directed my path. I was trusting Him moment by moment,

even when things didn't look like they were progressing like I

wanted them to. There were times I even cried out to God in

frustration and blamed Him for not hearing me, and in my anger I

even told Him that He may be a great God, but I could sure think of

a few things I would do different and better, like heal me for one!

(LOL, I repented of that arrogance pretty quick.) In the end, I

just trusted Him, and continued to move forward in whatever way He

was showing me. I had peace. I also had been in touch with too

many other women who had gotten their implants out and knew that

there was hope.

Cherie, I know this is a hard and difficult time. There are so many

women who have been in your shoes. I've met them, seen them suffer,

even known some that have died. I wish I had answers to give you

that would work like a magic bullet. That was partly why I formed

this group....to find ways to encourage each other as we heal and

find things that work for us. I think we've made astounding

progress in seeing women make right choices and get better and

better! But there are always going to be long periods of pain and

suffering that won't seem to leave us alone. We can be so

despairing of hope. But, please, don't question what you know to be

true. And that is that implants were harming you. You can move

forward from here, knowing that God will be there for you.

Cherie, I can finally say I have my life back in full. There were

times when I didn't know if I would be able to say that, but here I

am. It's a long road to walk. Sit back, be patient, don't stress.

Don't be impatient to heal. That is the best advice I can give you.

Gradually, almost imperceptibly, you will notice that things are

getting better, little by little. It is frustratingly slow, but it

does happen. Don't look back, girl. Look forward.

Cherie - I think you were wise to stop the chiropractor and the

supplements for now. I've been going to a chiropractor for about 15

years, however it might just be too much for your body to start a

program like that right now. Also, vitamin supplements made me MUCH

WORSE when I still had the implants. That's when my joints started

swelling big time and the headaches started, and I got extremely

dizzy. Whatever was in them seemed to only add fuel to the fire.

See you on the 9th. As the day gets closer, we can finalize the

arrangements like where to meet, etc.

Hi Cherie,

It is so interesting that your pain has moved from one side to the other.

According to chiropractic and acupuncture, moving pain is a good sign! It

is pain that stays in one area and that does not change that is bad.

Consider this a good indicator that you are getting better. Since you

aren't on any supplements right now and don't want to spend a ton of money,

I'd recommend one product for your liver and that's AdvaClear by Metagenics.

It is a great liver detoxifier/supporter and worked wonders for me. I took

it for a few years and switched over to a more powerful liver supplement. I

wouldn't recommend it for you since you are just starting out on detoxing.

products. I'd buy a large bottle and stay on it for several months. If you

herx, start at one capsule twice daily. Because you have fibro symptoms,

that's a huge indicator to me that you have a congested liver. You can add

more supplements in time if you like but at least stick with this one long

term.

Your diet sounds really good and clean so I wouldn't guess it's giving you

problems, unless perhaps you have food allergies or are a celiac. My

daughter is a celiac and she does feel achy and tired when she eats wheat.

Have you ever eliminated wheat from your diet to see how you feel?

I agree....taking care of the liver congestion is very important, as

is pursuing the discovery of food sensitivity and allergies.

Great points.

I believe that inflammation is a huge issue for us, and our bodies

out that discusses the damage from inflammation, and he has an anti-

inflammation diet that can be followed to help quiet down an

The Anti-Inflammatory Diet

(and how it promotes healthy aging)

Q: What is inflammation?

A: Inflammation is a normal part of the body's healing system. It is

perceptible-on the body's surface, in any case-as localized redness,

heat, swelling, and pain. It indicates increased immune activity and

nourishment in an area of the body that is injured or under attack.

Normal inflammation also occurs internally, and is not perceptible.

But it is so powerful and potentially destructive that it must stay

where it's needed in the body and end when its work has been

accomplished. Otherwise it can cause tissue damage and disease.

Q: And where does our diet fit into all of this?

A: The body regulates the inflammatory process very carefully, using

families of hormones that either intensify (upregulate) or diminish

(downregulate) it. These hormonal controls need to be balanced in

order to allow inflammation to occur when it is needed to repair

injuries or defend against infection and stop it when the job is

finished. The key here, and what many people don't know, is that the

foods we eat greatly influence these hormone levels and in turn

either activate or inhibit internal inflammation. The Anti-

inflammatory Diet is designed to encourage the latter state in order

to prevent damage to tissue and to promote basic good health.

Q: What foods should make up an Anti-inflammatory Diet?

A: A healthy anti-inflammatory diet should include a wide variety of

foods, including lots of fruits and vegetables and as few processed

foods as possible. Each meal would ideally have some carbohydrates,

some fat, and some protein. The basic goals are balance, variety,

and freshness; meeting these requirements will ensure that you get

all the vitamins and nutrients that your body needs, and fewer of

the unhealthy elements that are prevalent in many Americans' current

Q: In Healthy Aging, you say that acids in our food play a big role

in determining inflammation. How much of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty

acids should we have in our diet?

A: The body manufactures the hormones that control inflammation

using essential fatty acids as building blocks. Essential fatty

acids must be obtained from the diet; the body cannot make them. In

general, hormones made from omega-6 fatty acids upregulate

inflammation, while those made from omega-3 fatty acids downregulate

it. Therefore, you should seek out foods rich in omega-3 fatty

acids. These include salmon, herring, black cod, hemp seeds,

flaxseeds, walnuts, and omega-3 fortified eggs. You could also take

a fish oil supplement.

Q: Why hasn't the Anti-inflammatory Diet hit the mainstream yet? Why

aren't we all reading and talking about it?

A: The importance of inappropriate inflammation as a cause of age-

related disease is a new concept in medicine, so not much attention

has been given recently to designing an anti-inflammatory diet. Most

of us are eating pro-inflammatory diets, primarily because we eat

far more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids, and also because of our

choices of carbohydrate foods, our increasing consumption of refined

and processed foods, and our failure to consume enough of the

protective compounds in fruits and vegetables.

Q: For years, we've thought that unsaturated fat was more desirable

than saturated fat, which is why people have chosen margarine and

partially hydrogenated vegetable oils over butter. But you feel the

opposite is true. Why? And what does this have to do with

inflammation?

A: Margarine, vegetable shortening, and partially hydrogenated oils

are all pro-inflammatory, which is why I advise against ingesting

them. The best fats to eat are monounsaturated ones like those found

in nuts, avocados, and extra-virgin olive oil. People are right to

believe that saturated fat (found in real butter, for instance) is

basically unhealthy; it can increase production of cholesterol in

the body and should be consumed in very small amounts.

Q: What changes will we notice in ourselves and in our bodies when

we are on the Anti-inflammatory Diet? Can we lose weight on this

diet?

A: You won't see most effects. But keep in mind that following the

Anti-inflammatory Diet will reduce your risk of age-related diseases

(cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer),

because inflammation causes tissue damage, which, in turn, causes

disease. But the benefits go beyond disease prevention. Studies have

shown that the Anti-inflammatory Diet produces optimum nutrition and

health. People who follow it will feel better and have more energy;

they will have better immune function, better looking skin and hair,

and better mental and emotional health. Weight will tend to

normalize on this diet as well, especially if people also get

sufficient physical activity.

I am so thankful for that information. I will look into the

Advaclear for liver detox. I think Dr. Weil is very good. I have

never heard anyone, before yesterday, mention that food could cause

inflammation. I am going to check Amazon for that book. You really

helped me today. Funny, but just reading the responses from you

really picked up my mood and made me feel more like fighting this

thing and not giving in to it. THANKS

I am SO glad your mood is picking up. :) A good attitude is very important

in getting better. Some days it is so hard to be positive when you feel

like garbage and can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am

confident you are getting on the right path to wellness! :) Just keep in

Cherie,

I had my explant in April of 2004. I planned on taking a bar exam in July.

Boy was I deluded! IT takes time to heal. I finally did take the exam in July

of 2005, and

passed! But I was pretty sick, especially the first year.

You need to be patient with yourself. And like Kenda says, don't ever feel bad

for reaching

out. You will be helping some woman just like you one of these days.

That's what this is about.

Right now you need to accept the support from us, without worrying about it.

The info helped me, too, as I haven't started detoxing yet and am

still trying to figure out what's the best method. I made a note

about Advaclear, and definitely when I looked on Dr. Weil's link I

made a note to get some Omega-3 or flaxseeds.

Feeling better today - almost afraid to say that!! But my pain is

significantly less today. I'm not sure if this could be it, but I

have not had a cup of coffee with my creamer for two days. Hmmm I

wonder if that could be it. Would be a bummer, because that is

my " comfort " drink. But I wonder if it was contributing to my

inflammation. Anyway, I feel encouraged today.

Great post! I was going to say something similar, but you said it

better! It really does help to trust God and keep positive that you

are getting better despite " feeling " otherwise. It is quite common

to have periods of time when you feel like you are getting worse,

followed by periods of time of increased wellness. As time passes,

as you said, you realize that almost imperceptibly you ARE getting

better. We can not compare our progress to someone else's because

we all heal differently. I know how anxious one can be to get well--

-and to have their life back. Unfortunately, stressing out about it

Yes, Cherie, it is not nearly as fast as we hope! But after a year and a half,

I am feeling

better. I still fatigue easily. I am not practicing yet, but hope to soon.

Cherie - I purchased some ground flax seed in the food store, and

I'm going to start adding it to my cereal. Dr. Weil said Omega 3

rich foods reduce inflamation, and I don't like seafood so I

probably don't get much Omega 3. I'm going to start putting almonds

in my cereal, too, because almonds are also a source. Seems like

with each trip to the food store, I incorporate more and more of the

good stuff into my diet. There's a brand of organic soup called

Amy's, and I really like it, and it's really not any more expensive

than the regular brands (again I buy it in the regular food store).

I'm buying organic milk now, too. There's this juice by Bolthouse

Farms called Green Goodness, and it's got some of the things that

I've read assist in detoxing. I don't feel poorly after I drink it,

either. They have a website that tells you where the juice is

available, I buy it in a regular food store in the vegetarian

section. I'm not feeling great today, probably because we went

Christmas shopping last night, then stopped for a drink (I had club

soda with lime, don't know if club soda is good or bad), and got

home late, so that's probably why I'm not having a great day.

Trying to remain positive and be patient, and the fact that my

husband has suddenly sweetened up quite a bit helps. He feels bad

now that he wasn't supportive.

Sis - I just saw Flax seed in the grocery store today, but didn't

get it because I didn't know what to do with it. Have you tried in

on cereal yet? You'll have to let me know. I am feeling better

again today. I have tried Amy's soup, it's available in my store

too. I like juicing my fruits and vegies, must be doing some good.

We don't do X-mas, both my husband and I agree on that. It's harder

on everyone else who doesn't understand. I don't think club soda

could be too bad - no sugar! Hey, I wonder if there is a healthy

restaurant in New Hope? I'm glad your husband has softened. Nice

not to feel like you're all alone going through this. I'll check on

line and see if I can find a good restaurant for lunch Friday.

Cherie - I think you can probably sprinkle it on or in alot of

different foods - I'm going to experiment and see what I come up

with. I'm starting with cereal, but I would imagine I could add it

to alot of things if the taste isn't too harsh. I don't have a

juicer yet, but I'd like to get one. So far I'm just cutting up

fresh veggies and eating them as a snack when watching TV, eating

sweet potatoes, and eating fruit. I'm glad you're feeling better

again today, just take it day by day.

One of my friends spends a great deal of time in New Hope, I can ask

her for a recommendation, too.

Check the ingredients of that creamer . . . see it

there's any form of silica or silicone dioxide in it.

You may be hypersensitive to silicone products.

Could you find a good herbal tea you could enjoy? . .

.. There are many excellent teas!

I'd also definitely check that creamer for partially hydrogenated

oils. Almost 100% of the creamers out there have it and that is why

it is a good reason to refuse to consume them! Read your labels!

If you remember from Dr. Weil's information on inflammation,

partially hydrogenated oils, otherwise known as transfats,

contribute to inflammation.

You're right, and I knew that about partially hydrogenated oils. I

guess I was just telling myself that this was the only thing I was

doing wrong, I must be able to have a litte something bad for me. I

was wrong because now that I am day 4 without it, I feel so much

better. I'm in no way pain free yet, but have much better range of

motion and less fatigue. Do you know if sodium silicoaluminate is a

form of silicone?

Cherie, I found this on labinfoinc.com. Not only does it have

Silicon Dioxide, but it's also got Aluminum Oxide. Any sites that
