Guest guest
Cosima, Oh my goodness, what a mess. I am so sorry for your situation. I live close to Atlanta and if you need anything even a friend I will gladly come up to help you and your family when you have surgery. How many kids do you have? You have emailed me before and I hope you keep in touch. I know all about the money and we weren't approved for the financing so we have to use our retirement funds and our tax return, I have no choice but to wait and hope I don't get sick inbetween now and February. Please let me know if I can help. Guest guest
Oh Cosima, my heart goes out to you right now. I pray that all the pieces come together for you, and I really think it's significant that your surgery is at the very end of a year - perhaps indicating that next year is a new beginning for you. I'm so sorry that you're getting sicker by the minute, and I am sending some positive thoughts and prayers your way. I charged my original implant surgery on a 0% interest credit card. The explant surgery came out of my severance pay that I got when I lost my job. In total I paid a little over $13,000 in six months, first to have the bombs put in, then to have the bombs taken out. It really does make me angry that the corporations are allowed to do this to us - and our own government is allowing it. I wish you the best, and I'm thankful that you found this group and that you're in Dr. Kolb's hands, she's helped alot of women. Good luck and God Bless. Guest guest
Cosima, my situation was similar to yours. We had less than nothing, were in debt to begin with, and had to borrow themoney for my surgery. I was lucky that I recovered well enough to now be able to bring in a little bit of an income. There are no gaurantees, but after the surgery you will have a much better chance of physically being able to contribute to reuilding our household income. As for the expensive supplements... Dr. Kolb has a pretty specific protocol, but there is no reason why you HAVE to spend that money and do her plan right away. There are many of us who could not begin to afford such a regimen. I have used very few supplements, mostly diet changes, with really great results. Once ou regain some of your health and you get more income then you can start taking some of the supplements she reccommends. But please do not let the thought of that stress you out right now. It is more important for you to just get the surgery and then slowly work your way back to a normal life. I know you are under a great deal of stress, especially since this is the holiday season. We have all been there, and I am still stressing out over my tremendous debt! But now I have hope that I am able to work towards a full recovery and a normal income. It takes a great deal of faith and baby steps to make it through this process. Breathe deeply and do the best you can to stay calm and take things one step at a time. Somehow it will all work out, you just have to believe that it will. Big hugs,
Guest guest
thanks for that info . I was afraid that Dr.Kolb wouldn't do the surgery without me taking those supplements. she never said that but I was afraid they were mandatory.I wish I could get them. I seem to be getting sicker every day. More swollen lymph glands appear, chills, etc. I'm afraid I won't even be fit to travel when the time comes for surgery even after taking the antibiotic and diflucan. > > Cosima, my situation was similar to yours. Guest guest
thanks for your kind support and prayers, sis. i need all the prayers I can get right now. I'm afraid my husband and I don't have a credit card with a limit that would accommodate the all the costs. The one he has is only a $1000, which he has used responsibly for several years but I still fear not being able to get these out. If all else fails, I may just have to go to a teaching hospital and beg for help and hope they can do what needs to be done instead of lock me up in some psych hospital because they don't aknowledge that saline breast implants cause any problems.I just hope that Dr. Kolb can offer some other solution, if this can't be financed. If not, I'll try teaching hospitals and if nothing can be done there, I guess I'd appeal to Oprah or somebody to find a solution. I'm that desperate. I've been plenty sick before. I'm no stranger to that.I've had 24 surgeries already. But I've never felt this sick nor this scared before.Nor this hopeless.and like it's all my fault for ever doing it in the first place.I'm just afraid, if this can't be done, i'll end up being just another forgotten statistic and that i won't have the will the live because i don't want to sit around waiting for whatever else could happen next.I asked Dr. Kolb what happens if I can't afford the surgery and she said that I could take the cipro and diflucan and that would probably help the infection until the next time. That was all she said. > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > I have a question about the class action suit for silicone breast > > implants: why isn't there one for saline implants and what would > it > > take to get one started? Guest guest
I had a very differant experience with Dr. Kolb. She did not not tell me to buy any supplements. She just gave me the list and told me which pill was for what and that was it, she really didn't push any of it on me. I did not buy any of them because of the money situation as well. (we had to borrow the money too and use our honeymoon money as well...as a joke we said that Atlanta was our honeymoon...LOL, poor hubby) anyhow, I just got the mandatory stuff (antibiotics and diflucan) and that is it. I am feeling so much better so I don't think I will ever do the supplements. Hopefully you will have good results like me so you won't have to spend more $$$. Dr. Kolb is so wonderful. I remember waking up from surgery and she was doing her holistic healing over me with her hands. It was such a warm feeling. She almost looked like an angel to me. I know that sounds wierd but that woman is quite amazining. Before I got on the road to travel back to OH she opened up the office for me on the weekend and came in there herself to see me. I was stressed because i had to keep the tubes in for the ride home and she could tell. She asked me if I wanted her to do some healing and I said YES! I am not sure what the holistic technique is called but she placed her hands about 5 inches above my breasts and moved them in a circular motion, she concentrated more on my left side where my infection was. The heat and energy from her was amazing. I know it may be in my head (my husband thinks I am nuts) but I felt so much more relaxed and my spirit was calmed for the ride home. You are in good hands. > > > > Cosima, my situation was similar to yours. We had less than > nothing, > > were in debt to begin with, and had to borrow themoney for my > > surgery. Guest guest
OMG, Jenna, how I wished I could've gotten some of that healing the other day when I went for my consult because I hurt so bad. I didn't mean to say that she pushed any supplements on me.She didn't. I just took it as being mandatory.I did wonder though why she said the symmastia wouldn't need to be repaired because I had read that it had to always be repaired even if it's mild like mine.but I'm not going to worry about it because I figure that if she gets in there during surgery and sees a problem with it that doesn't look like the explantation alone is going to fix it, she's take care of it. but that may well mean an unexpected added expense I didn't plan on unless she won't fix it without the repair being paid for ahead of time.either way, my chest muscle is the least of the worries. > > > > thanks for that info . Guest guest
When I first saw Dr. Kolb, I was skeptical about the supplements she recommended, and about her motives. That skecpticism did not last long. She dispelled those concerns when it became clear that she was not going to push anything. And the longer I have known her, the more I realize that her primary motive is to help women. SHe has helped so many women, and she continues to do so. Of coruse she must make a living at her profession. Yet, I have seen her offer advice and support without asking for compensation. She would never refuse to operate because a woman could not afford or chose not to purchase supplements. > > > > > > Cosima, my situation was similar to yours. Guest guest
Cosima I am sorry that you are so sick. Please have faith that you will get well. Before you know it, your surgery date will be here. I agree that you don't have to buy all the supplements either. In fact, it seems best to just start with one or two at a time for most people. The important thing is to get the implants out. Also, there are things you can do that don't involve buying expensive supplements. Diet changes can be very important and garlic is very effective at killing all kinds of organisms. So is oil of oregano and it isn't that expensive. I just bought a kind I particularly like for around $16. It will last me a couple of months. I have found oil of oregano and also olive leaf extract very good for candida. There are people here who have used Dr.Kolb's protocol with success and others where it hasn't helped. Doing cleanses has have helped many here and they aren't costly. The liver cleanse is just epsom salts, olive oil, and grapefruit or lemon juice. DEtox baths can be as simple as epsom salts. Add hydrogen peroxide and it can be quite anti-infective. So there are many things you can do on your own that won't require doctor's visits, etc. ONce you get the implants out, you can decide from there the next step. I am praying for you. Guest guest
Cosima, reading some of the feelings you expressed reminded me of how I felt before explant. I'm still not feeling great yet, but mentally I'm feeling alive again because I don't have to worry about the implants. I wish there were some way I could help you other than prayer - but perhaps prayer is the most powerful thing we've got. I think sometimes when everything seems hopeless, a lifeline comes along and tugs us ashore. I think writing to Oprah sure couldn't hurt, though, I know she gets millions of letters however yours just might get the attention of her staff and end up on her desk. Give it a try! Try whatever resources you possibly can, because I'd hate to see you have to live with the implants in your body. Does the $13,000 include a lift? I'm just wondering if you could just have the implants out to improve your health, and worry about the lift at some other time - perhaps if you aren't approved for the $13,000, you could be approved for the $6000 or whatever it is she charges just for a removal. Guest guest
Cosima- I just wanted to let you know what worked for me credit wise. I called Health 1 financial. It was one of the credit company't that Kolbs office gave me. I think they work with 3 major ones. Anyhow I liked Health 1 because they had NO APR for 1 year, you know how important that is with today's rates. I originally called them and asked for 6 grand which is what the explant would be without a lift. Because I lived out of town I did not know if I would need a lift. They told me once I got to Atlanta that if I needed the lift that I could call them last minute and they would up the amount needed. I think all together with the lift it came to around 10 grand maybe more. Anyhow, I applied for the card ON MY OWN. My thinking was, why should I drag my husband in my mess. I got the implants before I ever started dating him so I was being stubborn about paying for it myself. I got approved thru them. I have good credit, but I am in my first year of real estate and only made 14,000 so far this year. I was shocked that they approved me without my husband as a co-signer. Then they upped it to the amount I needed last minute because I did end up needing the lift. Please feel free to email me personally if you need me to look up the number for you! I can get you the numbers of all 3 financing companies that I tried. I found out within 4 biz. days if I was approved so it was quick. Hope this helps, oh and by the way my payment each month with Health 1 is around 180-200 per mo. It sux, but we couldn't afford to do it any other way, and at least there is no APR. my email is jennag2224@..., I never would have thought it a million years that I would be able to get approved and I did....it won't hurt to try! HUGS!!! Guest guest
sis, the explantation is $6000 and I'm not sure if that price includes the removal of the scar tissue/capsules. the mastopexy is $2000. altogether, she quoted it all as $9615. the rest is what confuses me- anesthesia & facilty costs, etc. that's listed on the sheet she gave me. I'm not sure if that was in the $9615 or not so I'm going to call the office tomorrow and find out.I have thought about not having the mastopexy done if need be but I sure hope I don't end up having to go that route. Dt. Kolb said it wasn't for certain that I'd even need it.She's going to check and see during surgery after she removes the implants by sitting me up on the table to see how they look. It'd be nice if it ends up not even being necessary. I've seen pictures on the internet of women who had theirs removed and were much larger than me and didn't the mastopexy. However, I think most of them had more breast tissue than me to start with. I won't have anything to fill out. I went from a 32 AA ( or I should say AAA after nursing a baby for 2 yrs) to a 32B.but maybe, just maybe, it won't be needed. > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > I have a question about the class action suit for silicone > breast > > > > implants: why isn't there one for saline implants and what > would > > > it > > > > take to get one started? Guest guest
ummm how do the detox baths help? it's just superficial, right, like a bubble bath? Guest guest
Detox baths aren't superficial and are nothing like a bubble bath. The skin is a major elimination organ. In detox bath you add things to the water that help draw toxins out of the body. Epsom salts are magnesium and when they are absorbed they can accomplish a variety of purposes. Here is an excerpt that I copied from a website about epsom salts: Researchers and physicians report that raising your magnesium levels may: Improve heart and circulatory health, reducing irregular heartbeats, preventing hardening of the arteries, reducing blood clots and lowering blood pressure. • Improve the body's ability to use insulin, reducing the incidence or severity of diabetes. • Flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances. • Improve nerve function by regulating electrolytes. Also, calcium is the main conductor for electrical current in the body, and magnesium is necessary to maintain proper calcium levels in the blood. • Relieve stress. Excess adrenaline and stress are believed to drain magnesium, a natural stress reliever, from the body. Magnesium is necessary for the body to bind adequate amounts of serotonin, a mood- elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of well being and relaxation. While increasing your magnesium levels, TheraSpa – Epsom salt also delivers sulfates, which are extremely difficult to get through food but which readily absorb through the skin. Medical research indicates sulfates are needed for the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the mucin proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. Sulfates also stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and help to detoxify the body's residue of medicines and environmental contaminants. Other detox baths such as bentonite clay have a charge that is the opposite of toxins and thus pulls toxins out of the body. I have had strong herxes to detox baths and you should not think they dont have the power to cause cleansing reactions. I would start out on smaller amounts and see how you react. Guest guest
Cosima - My heart is going out to you right now, and have added you to my prayer list!! I wanted to let you know that I also was a AA before implants to a B with the implants. Since they were removed, I am an A - kind of in between. I have been explanted for six weeks, and have been up and down with improvement, and they aren't the perfect shape - I'm told they need to " fluff " , but THEY'RE MINE!!! Now that those bags are out of me, the healing can begin, and I have hope that I didn't have when they were in. Like you, I really felt hopeless. Once I made the decision for explant, my hope started. I did not have a lift - I don't think that would have helped me. Maybe you should wait and see if it's even necessary, and have it at a later time. The women here are a wonderful source of information and support, so stick with this group. Hang in there, Cherie > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > > > I have a question about the class action suit for silicone > > breast > > > > > implants: why isn't there one for saline implants and what > > would > > > > it > > > > > take to get one started? Guest guest
Cosima, I was an A and went to a C (I didn't want a C, I insisted on a B, but my dear plastic surgeon didn't listen to me). I had my implants for six months, and I had my explant on November 7th. I don't look exactly like I did before, but it's much better than I thought - I was worried that I'd have a ton of loose skin and I really don't. My armpits went back to how they used to be, so alot of skin must have been pulled from my armpits. My muscles indent above my breasts right now, and my doctor says that will fluff out in time. I'm going to begin doing some light upper body exercising to help the process along, but I can't start that for a few weeks, and actually I'm not starting anything like that until after the holidays. Guest guest
I am so sorry you are feeling so awful. How old are your children? If you have medical insurance, there might be a chance you could get your implant removal covered. There are several women here who have fought that battle and won. I hope you start feeling better soon. Guest guest
Yes, you can buy epsom salts in the grocery store. It usually comes in a box or bag. I would start out soaking in about one half cup for no more than twenty to thirty minutes. You can work up to 2 cups for thirty or more minutes. But you want to see how you react first. Some people feel nothing--others get a headache or a little light headed. I also belong to a group of people who use the antibiotic therapy for autoimmune diseases and doctors there often recommend using epsom salts with hydrogen peroxide. The standard mixture is 2 cups of epsom salts in very warm water. After about twenty minutes add two large bottles of hydrogen peroxide. Soak another twenty minutes. The hydrogen peroxide is taken up through your skin and it kills off organisms. Hydrogen peroxide is an anti- infective. Many people have used this with good results. I herx badly to it. I get dizzy and get a headache. Also, my skin in the private parts is too sensitive to sit in water with the peroxide in it. However, there are alot of people who swear by this. I have also used bentonite clay and it really stirs things up. That is why clay is used when you go to saunas where they offer all the detoxification wraps. Seaweed also detoxifies. Still, many people do not experience much improvement no matter what they do until they get their implants out. So don't get discouraged. You can still help your body now by starting on these changes but go slow and easy. I would also concentrate on alkalinizing your body. On the internet you can easily find lists of the most alkalinizing foods and acidic foods. Cutting out sugar, baked goods and processed foods in favor of raw foods--especially veggies, salads, garlic and onions will help. You should attempt to eat raw foods everyday. They contain enzymes which we need to perform all cellular functions. There are many things you can do to help detoxify your body, but I would wait until explanted to start focusing on the cleanses, etc. Hugs, Kathy -- In , " Cosima " <cosimaf@b...> wrote: > > > Kathy, > wow! ok, i'm convinced. do i just go to the store and get a bottle of > epsom salts and follow the directions on it? or do i need to go to > ahealth food store and get a special brand? i'm ready to get my > husband to go get me some and start soaking right away! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > > > > > I have a question about the class action suit for silicone > > > > breast > > > > > > implants: why isn't there one for saline implants and what > > > would > > > > > it > > > > > > take to get one started?
