Guest guest
I have to agree, but its even worse for me. As we are short 4 dispatchers, I am the Communications Supervisor for the department, that means more than just dispatch supervisor, it involves soup to nuts on phones radios pagers coadmin of a 53 station NT network, incharge of CAD maintenance and Cerulean maintenance. etc. since we are short, am assigned TO a dispatch slot. lost my weekends off and have to work as a dispatcher while we are so short. so all my admin duties pile up, etc.. Dont get me wrong, I was a dispatcher and have done the job, I am a dispatcher at my soul, but I am not getting paid 18 bucks an hour to dispatch, it is to supervise and the assorted headaches of that job.. >>> " " 6/4/00 11:13 am >>> >. We also have 2 supervisors per shift (who came up through the ranks but mysteriously forgot how to both work the radio and answer phones). < Ok Bob.. Give us supervisors a break... (grin) 1. My office is directly connected to the radio room. If I hear my dispatchers are busy, I'll go in and help. If the phones get busy I'll help.. But here's the truth.. I worked the console for 26 years before I got my supervisor position. I don't want to work radio. I don't want to answer phones. I don't want to work one minute overtime. I've done all that. Now I want to concentrate on my supervisory duties and work to make my center the best it can be. I know exactly what you mean. I've been helping dispatch when they were extremely busy, all the phones ringing off the hook, and the Lt. F/St and 2 or 3 troops standing around and no one will answer a phone to help... So I know what you're saying... I'm just telling you how this one supervisor feels... I've been there... I've done that.. and now I want to do the job I was promoted to do....
