Guest guest
Mentor officials declined to comment on the engineer's specific charges. But the company's Web site advises women that there is no reason to worry about the " the myth of bleed. " " Minute amounts of 'bleed' occur in all breast implants, " the Web site says. " It is important to note that all Mentor gel implants are low bleed. World-wide studies on the subject of bleed have not linked it to illness in patients. " ________________________________________________________________ When the programme, 'The Day my Boobs Went Bust' aired, I remember Dr. Melmed (Feng and Melmed were interviewed at length for the programme) saying, 'all silicone implants bleed from Day One'. Apparently, Mentor agrees. But I wonder why plastic surgeons don't communicate this to their patients? (grrr) Dr. Melmed also brought up how nearly all plastic surgeons tell women they will go to their grave with their implants intact and proceed to twist and tork a sample silicone implant in their hands, showing how 'strong it is'. Melmed said, 'you try to do that with a 20 year old implant, you can't. It's disintegrated.' First it's 'implants don't leak!' then it's 'they leak, but it's 'low' (compared to what?!!!). Then it's 'low leakage does not hurt human tissues.' Maybe next they'll say human tissue is actually, silicone based! Yes, that's it. ;-)
Guest guest
Yes, I'm sure the Mentor website disclaims any possibility of illness. Those of us who have had problems with silicone implants know better. Of course, there is also rupture - which i had, and there IS an FDA study that DOES show a correlation between rupture and autoimmune illness. I find it hard to believe that years of 'bleed' would not also be a catalyst for health problems in those women susceptible to autoimmune disease. Many doctors - including a rheumatologist, internist, endocronologist and neurologist that I see- do believe there is a correlation. I find it significant that Inamed and Mentor only provided a few years of study for the FDA. I doubt that asbestos or tobacco links with illness would have ever been found with such short studies. My father died of asbestos cancer - mesothelioma - and it takes 20-40 years for people to develop cancer from asbestos. I am simply astonished and greatly concerned that the FDA requires so little from these manufaturers. > > Mentor officials declined to comment on the engineer's specific > charges. Guest guest
I bet Mentor officials did decline to comment. I don't doubt that their website attempts to dispel the valid concerns women have. The number of women who will experience problems if silicone implants are again marketed widely is frightening. > > Mentor officials declined to comment on the engineer's specific > charges.
