Guest guest
Sue - this trembling is your adrenals shouting. I have it all the time. The dark rings under your eyes are also adrenal fatigue. If you don't treat it you won't continue to sleep OK - you'll be up all night, buzzing. You have done the right thing in ordering HC. I added a 5 mg dose of hydrocortisone at bedtime 3 nights ago in additon to 15 mg during the day, after months of periodic insomnia (waking up after a few hours, full of nervous energy, unable to get back to sleep). The first 2 nights I slept better than ever, but last night I was up after a couple of hours of sleep, buzzing, as you said. What effect do adrenal fatigue and treating with HC have on sleep and insomnia? Am I doing the right thing by taking a dose of HC at bedtime? Canary Club shows my cortisol depressed all 4 times of the day and night. Does anyone have any input on this? Thanks! Robin G.
Guest guest
Cortisol controls your body's waking and sleep rythym. You probably should be taking a lower dose at bedtime. I used to take a bedtime dose and found that 5MG is too much then, so break it in half and take the extra 2.5 in the morning when your body needs the most. You will still be on 20MG a day but have a better rythym with it. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Hi Robin this happens to me every night. I wake up without fail at 1am. If I am lucky I can get back to sleep until 3am, then I might not be so lucky. i have had more nights than I care to think about awake from 1am - wired and very, very, very tired. The key I have found is to eat something during the night. I think I wake up because I have become hypoglycemic. My adrenals are in such poor shape they can't maintain steady blood sugar throughout the night without food. So when I wake at 1am, I have a protein drink. I may need to eat something again 4 hours later. I also take 5mg HC before I go to bed at 10pm, and this was recommended by my endocrinologist when I explained my hypoglycemia problems. It is supposed to help you sleep soundly. I don't think it is enough to keep you awake. The key is also to take enough HC in the morning to tell the pituitary that there is enough cortisol in the body - so it stops asking the adrenals to produce more and more. If this doesn't happen, the pituitary keeps demanding more cortisol from the adrenals, which have to play catch-up all day, with cortisol levels building up throughout the day and peaking at night time, which WILL keep you awake. The doses my endocrinologist recommended were 10 or 15 mg in the morning, 10 at lunchtime, and 5 at bedtime. I have also just bought some melatonin to help me sleep. My tests showed that I was way below the bottom range for melatonin, so this could explain my poor sleep patterns. I'm going to give it a go tonight. You might need to up your HC during the day, particularly the morning, and maybe eat something before you go to bed, especially if you have an early dinner. Or maybe even take something with you to eat during the night. See what works for you. Hope this helps Nicola > > > > ...adrenal fatigue. Guest guest
I am wondering about this also. It seems when I am not able to sleep I notice my heart beating faster and I will try to just lay there and relax, but to no avail I usually end up with my heart racing away and I begin shaking and get a very dry mouth so I am gulping down water. Do you think it's just low blood sugar when it does this in the middleof the night because it will eventually stop racing and then I am totally exhausted and running to the bathroom to pee every few minutes after this happens. All of this seems so ridiculous--and it's really starting to get aggrivating!! I am so emotional during all of this, all I want to do it curl up and cry. Guest guest
It can be low Cortisol doing all that. It causes you to need a steady stream of sugar as you literally run out of steam even while sleeping. Glucose intolerance is a symptom of low Cortisol and eating a bedtime protein snack will help but HC will help more. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
So are you saying that my adrenals are causing fluctuations in my blood sugar, but then it will attempt to make it right and that's why my heart will stop racing and have a normal beat. Because I know if your blood sugar drops too low and you don't do anything about it, you can pass out or go into a coma. shawna [Norton AntiSpam] Re: Re: Trembling? Guest guest
> > > Hi Robin, I used to sleep horribly too. I started taking Metformin a couple of years ago for insulin resistence and I started sleeping better when I took that at bedtime. I used to wake up 3 or more times a night to go to the bathroom and now I don't do that anymore. It also helped me shed all of my weight that I gained from taking Zoloft plus the 14 lbs. from my thyroid. I sleep pretty good now since being on Armour and the Metformin. Guest guest
Sue - after another terrible night (awake at 2, 3.30, and 5.30 onwards) I have just been reading up on insulin resistence. Despite eating at regular intervals throughout the night I cannot sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time. Is insulin resistence the same thing as type 1 diabetes? The symptoms I have is the constant waking, adrenal quivering and hot flashes - but I don't have increased urination (once a night) or increased thirst, or weight loss. But in line with diabetes type 1 my symptoms have come on over the last few weeks, I have a yeast infection, and none of it seems to be getting better with the HC, which make me question whether it is adrenal and something else. The prognosis for type 1 diabetes has just terrified me, and I am hoping it's not this. What is Metformin? thanks Nicola > > Hi Robin, > > I used to sleep horribly too. Guest guest
Nicola, This is me also, expect I am so hungry all the time. No extra thirst though. Or yeast infection. I had to get up at 12:30 to have a protein drink, then I was hungry again at 1:30 and 4am. I am thin but this might turn around if I continue to eat the way I am? I have never had an appetite like this. I usually have a low one. Liz Sue - after another terrible night (awake at 2, 3.30, and 5.30 onwards) I have just been reading up on insulin resistence. My symptoms were extreme thirst, frequent urination, waking up at night, and could not lose weight no matter what. I don't know if it leads to diabetes but if you continue to gain weight then it can. When i started taking it I was on Synthroid and I did start to sleep a little better but not as well as I do now on the Armour. Metformin is the generic name for Glucophage. I know it does help me with my sugar/carb cravings and that is one of the reason's that I have stayed on it but I am thinking that once I start the HC I will no longer need it.
