Guest guest
in that case, all of us breast implant survivors should contribute our stories to one big book and have it published. then maybe the manufacturers, FDA, doctors, etc.would have to listen and do some unbiased research.united, we could move mountains, much more than if we just go at it individually. i must be feeling a little better after starting that medicine because now I've got some of my urge to fight back. > > There was a man on an NPR radio show some time back > who was telling about all the help there is for those > who want to publish a book . . > > Do a websearch for " self publish writers " and words > along those lines. Guest guest
Cosima - I was actually thinking of doing that, and self-publishing it, and then I wouldn't have to deal with it being edited or squashed by people who make money off of implants. If there's anyone on this site who'd like to be interviewed for it, I'd love to get it started soon (after final exams and the holidays are through). I'm glad you're getting your urge to fight back, and while I am sure the medications are starting to attack the infections in your body, I'm also guessing that the good news about the financing is helping lift your spirit as well. Guest guest
yep, you're right sis, the good news did help. by the way, count me in on that interview thingy. my little 87 lb self is gonna sing out loud and clear about all this mess, one way or another.i was surprised to find that Oprah has actually covered stories about breast implants before, seeing how it seems so controversial in the medical community about whether or not saline implants are dangerous.you'd think she would've been afraid of getting sued by the manufacturers but then she has about as much money as they do so maybe they thought better than to cross her.it also amazes and angers me that, even though Oprah has helped to educate the public about these dangers with her shows, women are still getting them and are still being lied to. makes you wonder what's the use. i can't help but think that one reason implants keep being manufactured is that there continues to be a demand for them and an increased demand at that. and in turn, there's a demand because women are being lied to about their safety. it's a vicious cycle.i really think it'd take a very vain woman to knowingly want breast implants if she were FULLY informed of what can and what WILL happen as a result of getting them. Dr. Kolb didn't tell me my implants can rupture, she told me that they WILL rupture at some point if I kept them long enough. it makes a big difference when you think about what might possibly happen and what IS going to happen because people have the tendency to think oh well, it will probably not happen to me.....until it does and then it's too late. that is one thing that needs to be emphasized, whether in books, TV shows, interviews, articles, etc. i'll be looking forward to that interview and book. i even personally know a publisher here in town that did a couple of my husband's books, if you need help with finding a self-publisher. it's called snake-nation press. > > > > > > There was a man on an NPR radio show some time back > > > who was telling about all the help there is for those > > > who want to publish a book . . > > > > > > Do a websearch for " self publish writers " and words > > > along those lines. Guest guest
Cosima, thanks for the information on the publisher. I'm definitely going to look into that. You're 87 lbs? Oh my gosh, is that your normal weight, or have you lost weight since you've gotten sick. I lost 10 lbs after I got implants, I'm slowly gaining my weight back, though, I'm up 5 lbs. I think Oprah is so powerful, that corporations know better than to mess with her. For some reason, I don't know if everyone wants to get the message about implants, though. There seems to be alot of denial surrounding them - I don't quite get it. Perhaps it's because the FDA and medical community back them, and many people want to believe the FDA and their doctors. Especially saline, when people talk about saline implants, they believe they're safe. I was trying to help a young girl by telling her my experiences, and I also told her about this site (and she came here and read the posts), and she eventually responded that she hated her body so much, that she'd take her chances on getting sick. She stated that she knew her health should be more important than her physical appearance, but she was still choosing her appearance over her health. Very sad. Guest guest
Oh, another thought regarding Oprah - perhaps her shows regarding implants have gotten through to some people - that's something that can't be measured. Even if her show stopped one person from getting implants, that's one less person who will suffer. Who knows, maybe there are hundreds or thousands of people who decided not to get implants based on her show or based on the bad press - however there are still tons more who just don't want to believe they make you sick, so the only way to stop people from getting them is to have them removed from the market. We all know that's a pretty enormous task, so until that happens people will continue to get sick. Look at the smokers who know cigarettes cause cancer, heart disease, etc., they keep on smoking. It's the human condition, unfortunately. Guest guest
yeah, sis 87 lbs is my normal weight at least it has been since i had hit my " middle age spread " . i'm only 4ft 10 in tall. too bad we can't grow taller as we get older but we sure can grow wider. for me that's a good thing. i'm supposed to weight about 90 lbs but had never been able to get past the 82 lb mark most of my life. so finally at 41, i don't have to worry so much. however, ironically, one of the thing s i think has kept me from losing weight is the illness the implants have caused because normally i'd lose weight rapidly given the fact that i've hardly been eating at all the last few months or so because i've felt so bad but then i also haven't been able to be very active either but that has never kept me from losing weight before if i skipped meals. maybe i should have my thyroid tested as well, if i can afford it. > > > > > > > > > > There was a man on an NPR radio show some time back > > > > > who was telling about all the help there is for those > > > > > who want to publish a book . . > > > > > > > > > > Do a websearch for " self publish writers " and words > > > > > along those lines.
