you can see what digits they are pressing on the ANI screen :) pretty nifty.

How do you know what number they've pressed? Do you have to learn to

recognize the tones of 1, 2, and 3? Does your ANI equipment show what number

they've pressed? I've answered 9-1-1 calls where you can hear someone

pushing numbers but nothing changes on the ANI/ALI display to show what

numbers they're pushing... Just wondering how you know.

For those of you using (or looking at) Plant Equipment, Inc.'s " VESTA " 911

phone system, they have " smartened up " the TDD module so that it recognizes

the DTMF tones from the caller's keypad and displays the corresponding

digits in the TDD conversation window.

This would also come in handy in the case of a hearing-impaired caller that

happened to be calling 911 from a phone not equipped with a TDD device!
