Guest guest
We all buy into the implants or we never would have got them. We have all heard from the pro-implant sites that sites like this one are just " anti implant " So it is no wonder your friend is in flat out denial. She may have guilt but look how hard it is for some of use..me included, to believe that our implants caused illness.I hope things have smoothed over between you and that she will be open to your experiance so that at least she is aware of the symptoms. Guest guest
Hi - I think I will be friendly with her, but I believe she's an acquaintance rather than a friend. You know the people you can count on and the people you can't, and thankfully I've got such an incredible friend who stood by me through this whole ordeal. In fact, she called me every morning while I was in Ohio, greeting me with " good morning Sunshine! " She had breast cancer 5 years ago, and she had a lumpectomy and didn't get implants. Both of us have been sick because of boobs, so I think it brought us even closer. When I first got the implants, the pro-implant site that I visited called sites like ours " scare sites " . I think what's scarey are the sights that don't tell you the truth about implants. Guest guest
I agree, Sis... I think that pro-implant site is a travesty. It's a sure moneymaker for plastic surgeons, though, and for the women who administrate the forum. I found it disgusting. THey came right out and told me theirs is a 'pro-implant' site and they are paid by the surgeons to promote implants. It makes me sick. > > > > > > Hi All, > > > > > > Some of you might remember that I was friends with someone who > had > > > implants for 20 years, and her daughter got them a little over a > > year > > > ago. Guest guest
Dear Sis, Denial is powerful. I threw away the articles my mother sent in the 90s about registering for the class action settlement. I was fine, and those women were nuts. Well that was before I got sick. When I finally had my 20 year old implants out, they were ruptured and I was one sick woman. You have planted a seed. Maybe someday she will come back to you for help. > > Hi All, > > Some of you might remember that I was friends with someone who had > implants for 20 years, and her daughter got them a little over a year > ago. Guest guest
There was a woman on the pro-implant sites who posted all the time - she already had lupus and MS when she decided to get the implants, and she had a bad heart and was in a wheelchair, too. She only got the implants about a year ago, but had been sick with the other ailments for years. She very strongly believed silicone was " inert " (I think she had silicone implants). I remember wondering what doctor in good faith could perform that type of surgery on someone with so many health problems. Guest guest
I don't think many plastic surgeons put in silicone implants in good faith. And those that do are idiots. > > > > > > > > > > Hi All, > > > > > > > > > > Some of you might remember that I was friends with someone > who > > > had > > > > > implants for 20 years, and her daughter got them a little > over a > > > > year > > > > > ago. Guest guest
Sis ~ I am sorry to hear of your experience with the insecure job bully. Obviously he is insecure in himself, and in his own ability, and uses lies, intimidation and harassment, by using crude demeaning statements, to try to rise above. No one should have to work with this person. And he should be put on probation or fired ! Bless your heart, I am glad you have someone else to work with now. That will make such a difference in your work day. There is nothing more annoying than to have to deal with a bully, especially an adult one. I am glad that you are finally seeing improvement in your health. It is great that your TSH is getting back to normal, and you feel so much better ! Gives me hope. Do you feel your energy level improving since getting used to working again? Ya know, on the breast implant, and symptom recognition deal, women are taught at a very young age to ignore pain, and live life as if it does not exist. Periods ! PMS, cramps, stomach aches, diarrhea, headaches, etc........we are programmed to dismiss the symptoms and pretend we dont feel bad, and that we dont really have these symptoms, I think this is why, in women, they dont recognise illness many times til it is too late. I think women have symptoms of BI illness that creep up on them, and they dont make the connection mainly because they attribute it to aging, hormones, just being tired, what ever excuse besides the implants. They may not even recognise they are having a problem til it is out of control and full blown. I believe opening the door is wonderful of you to do for your friend. When she is ready, she will step in. I hope you have a nice and relaxing weekend ! Blessings ~ DedeGet a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com. Guest guest
Dede, I'm doing well. I got very upset during the week on my business trip because I was working with a peer (who obviously thought he was my superior, and obviously had no respect for women). He told me that it was my job to push heavy pieces of equipment around and he didn't know why my boss hired me if I couldn't. I said I had back and neck problems, and he said " where did our boss find you, in rehab? " . I said I was never told physical labor would be involved, and I called my boss. My boss said we have people to push that equipment around, and told me not to do it. Anyway, now I'm working with someone else in the group who is much nicer and who doesn't think he has to wear every hat in the company in order to get something done. I'm giving this a chance and not basing one bad experience on the entire job. My friend does have e-mail, although I think I'll probably open the door to conversation when we see eachother again. We haven't had time alone to really talk, either my husband or her family has been around, but when we do I'll tell her that I was very sick two years ago and I'll tell her what triggered it. Since she's had them at least 10 years, she probably would be experiencing some kind of symptoms at this point if her body wasn't tolerating them - so perhaps that would set the groundwork. If she says nothing about her implants, I won't ask, but if she does I'll send her the pictures you sent. She looks healthy but then again, many of us do, even when we're sick. I think I looked terrible when I had them - my skin tone changed to this grayish color, and I lost so much weight at first. Then after explant I regained the 10 I lost, plus another 10. Got on the scale this morning and I've actually lost 10 lbs in the past few months - through hard work and diet - but thankfully I stuck with it because it came off slower than it ever has in my life. Now I'm back to the weight I was when I had the original implant surgery. So, two years later I've come full circle, and since my TSH is back to normal I'm sure that also had something to do with my ability to lose weight. Sis > > Sis ~ > Hello ! How are you doing? Guest guest
I agree, Dede, The man is very short - and while I could care less about that, I have the feeling that he does - thus explaining the " Napolean Complex " . I helped this man quite a bit during my visit there, and when I asked if he was ready for the next piece of information I was ready to provide, he said to the other man " traveling with her is like traveling with my friggin' wife " . One of the other men there said outloud - " if I were her, I'd report you to HR for saying that " . I definitely notice that my energy level is much better when I'm employed. I've been downsized twice in two years, and after the first downsizing is when I got implants. I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to work, but when I found another job I discovered that it made me feel normal and I did find the energy for it. Yes, we definitely become accustomed to pain and we tend to suck it up and go about our days with terrible cramps, hormone fluctuations, etc., so I think this does make us march on even when we don't feel well. Guest guest
Dearest Sis: I am glad that you are doing better, you have been through so much pain and suffering. When you are unhappy with your job, it can destroy you. I hope things change and that you do not allow anyone to push you around. My friend might not be able to have these calf implants removed, she is a diabetic and she is very frail. All I can do is give her love and support. They are very rich, this will make it easier for her to get help. Dr. Blais told me that she must have gone somewhere else to have them implanted. They are not allowed in Canada, and he has never heard of anyone having these implants! Wonders me...love you always.....Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``````````````` Friend with implants> > > Hello friends,> > I'm experiencing some growing pains with the new job and am not sure > if this is "the one", but I'm giving it time.
