Guest guest
no, rogene, there's nothing strange about it. it's called capitalism and that breeds greed long with ahost of other crap and it looks like it's here to stay and will be the ruin of this country much like the fall of the roman empire except it won't take a thousand years to fall like it did rome. we're not even 300 yrs old yet as a country and alreadly look at the sad state of affairs. sorry, i hate to be so cynical but it's true. before long, we'll be able to go to our corner grocer to get our booby traps because with the demand for them, the manufacturers will make and sell more of them and to increase production to keep up with the demand they have to make them faster and cheaper so they'll be even more poorly designed and constructed.we talk about this kind of stuff in grad school all the time. it's a real eye opener. > > Mrs. Leonard, > > So often when we read articles about the plastic > surgeons point of view they do not mention this! . . . > > > Is there a place of the FDA's report for women whose > doctors insisted they have their implants replaced > when what they really wanted is for them to be > removed? > > Something I can't understand. Guest guest
I hope eyes are being opened. . . . So many people don't want to engage mentally with what is going on in the government. I pray there's a new generation of young people who will set things straight . . . If there's a USA left by the time they find their voice. I've found that, after hearing a few buzz words, I know where ones political education is coming from. Sickening! Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
speaking of what surgeons report: my original PS is the head doctor for the mentor study in AZ....this is the study where only cancer patients are allowed to receive silicone implants.....i have NEVER had a follow up visit with him about the state of my health, my implants, NOTHING! so one has to wonder: what data is he reporting on me, as a recipient of silicone implants after mastectomy? things that make you go " hhhmmmmm.......... " blessings to all, kathie > > I hope eyes are being opened. . . . So many people > don't want to engage mentally with what is going on in > the government. Guest guest
Kathie, I hope you will send this to the FDA - Mrs. Leonard, I think. They need to know these things. Sigh, not that it may make any difference - I agree with Rogene on her comments... But at least you can try! > > > > I hope eyes are being opened. . . . Guest guest
Kathie, I am amazed! . . . To think that a doctor, supposedly charged with investigating breast implants is not doing any follow-up is criminal! Then not to be interested in helping you when you get sick is even worse! Please tell Zuckerman <dz@...>, about your experience. She's collecting instances where studies are supposed to be done, but are not. Guest guest
I recently got a copy of the pathology report because I wanted to make sure the doctor took the capsules, and at the bottom there was a notation stating " THIS CASE WAS REVIEWED AT THE DEPARTMENTAL CONFERENCE. " I wonder what was said or reported in that meeting. I told the PS about the support group and that there were many other women sick. I guess I will never know. The good thing on the path report is that the capsules were entirely removed. Cherie > > I hope eyes are being opened. . . . Guest guest
Cherie, The Departmental Conference remark is really interesting. Do you suppose your doctor would tell you what the review was about? Please contact him when you feel well and let him know that removing your implants was the key to your getting better! I wish more doctors would sit up and take notice instead of sticking their heads in the sand! Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Rogene - I will - and can't wait to be able to tell him how much better I am - when I am that is! He really seems to be doing just what you said, kind of taking notice, not denying that they could be making me sick, but agreeing that they could be, and that I was doing the right thing by getting them out. I'm hoping he will be a good addition to the list of docs. Not only is he a good PS, but he is not in it for the money, believe it or not, he seems to be showing kindness - I don't think just to me, because everyone on his staff love him too. He kept his price VERY low for me - $2,400. But, he doesn't have the explant experience the other doctors have, in that he doesn't have a vitamin protocol, etc. Three years ago I went to him and asked if they could be causing my sickness, and he said absolutely not, maybe you have Lyme's disease. He really is a different person since that meeting. Do you think I should add him to our list? Cherie > > Cherie, > > The Departmental Conference remark is really > interesting. Guest guest
Cherie, Before adding him to our list, I would talk to him. . .. Tell him that you would like to add him to our list. He may or may not like the attention he gets! I understand there is considerable pressure put on some of the explanting surgeons. It's highly unlikely he will be able to do everyone's explant for what he charged you. He was being kind! The anesthesia, lab and surgical room would normally cost more than that alone! Actually, very few doctors have a supplement protocol. Dr. Kolb takes the lead in that. Dr. Feng is recommending some supplements. Maybe other doctors are, but they certainly aren't known for that! Guest guest
Rogene, Is this letter to Leonard at the FDA? I couldn't believe it when I read what you wrote " Something I can't understand. When a woman wants her implants out, without replacement, she can't find a surgeon to do it. If she'll have them replaced the surgeons are standing in line to do the job!!!!!! " This is so true!!! I actually talked to Mrs. Leonard myself, on the day when we were asked to bombard the FDA with phone calls. She listened to me tell her about this exact same situation! I can't find a plastic surgeon to take my implants out!! I've been sick for a few years now, diagnosed with fibro, and I just became eligible for Medicare in November. Now that I have national coverage, instead of just Pennsylvania Medicaid, maybe I can find a doctor who will take them out. I WANT to have Dr. Kolb or Dr. Feng do the surgery but I have to figure out how to get there and stay there a few days, and find someone to go with me...that's not easy to do. I haven't had a chance to catch up on all the posts but please let me know if you got any response from her (Mrs. Leonard) about this? I could give the FDA the names of several plastic surgeons who wouldn't remove them and I'm sure there's nothing in their records showing that's what I requested. Even if there is any mention of it, their reasons for not doing it are because they think I can't emotionally handle going back to the deformity I was born with! How loud do I have to scream to make myself heard?? I'm sick!! I don't care if I have boobs or not! I'm getting all worked up and aggravating my pain levels just thinking about it. I need to calm down for now, but believe me, I WILL find a doctor to take them out, if I have to drive to Georgia or Ohio all by myself. Thanks for the letter to Mrs. Leonard. It made my day. Guest guest
Hi Dianne, Where in PA are you? I'm in Northwest NJ, and I used Dr. Feng. I stayed at the Hampton Inn, I had a beautiful suite which cost less than what I paid for a regular room at the Hilton a few weeks earlier. Good luck in your quest to have your implants removed, I'll pray that it all works out so you can start recovering. Guest guest
Dianne, It's been a while now, but if I remember Mrs. Leonard's response, she said, in two responses that one could report the plastic surgeons to the medical board and that abusive surgeons could be reported to the plastic surgeon association. Doesn't solve a thing for those sick and in need of expert explant surgery! . . . Please do keep writing or calling Leonard. I've noticed that she fowards a number of my messages to other departments! Personally, she can't do anything. But, she can pass the word up the line . . . Maybe one day someone with integrity will be in charge! Meanwhile we still have the Medwatch report we can submit . . . even without a doctors signature! A new MedWatch report can be submitted for each diagnosis! I pray your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery!
