Guest guest
Can someone please explain to me the process of getting a VA approval for kidney transplant when the patient is 100% service connected and there is not a VA center in the area that performs transplants? The closest kidney transplant center is in Tennessee, and we are located in Shreveport, LA. There is a VA center here, but like I said they do not perform transplants. (BTW these are Cadaveric donors) It's my understanding that these patients can come to our center and the VA will pay for it as long as we acquire an authorization. I have talked to dozens of people about what I need to do to ensure that these patients are able to attend our facility, but everyone keeps sending me to a different department. I have also left several messages that have not been returned. Please help...let me know if you need additional information. I'm at my wits end! Thanks!!
