i have been using vaseline in my ears to prevent the skin from drying it

works medium well. i used to put steroid creams there but i ended up with a

brutal infection.

Yes, this is probably the best solution, as it does the least harm !

Like you, and many others, have had bad infections when I have used anything else...on going problem, I'm afraid !

The ear problem has been quite an interesting one! It seems that a 'lot' of us have the same problems....irratating isn't it ???? especially when you have to keep saying to people, 'pardon??' :-)......

At least, on here, (email group), we don't have that problem !!!

as long as the 'eyes' keep going !!!!

Dear Marta,

In case you forgot, I had worn hearing aids for more than 10 years, before

having any idea that it was Lyme that was causing the problems with my ears.

I couldn't hear soft noises, was unable to filter noises, meaning that if

more than one person was talking at the same time, I could decipher nothing

at all, it all blurred, and loud noises were excruciatingly painful to me,

made me cry, so much ear pain.

The IV Rocephin didn't help, but the IV Claforan helped so much that I've

regained most of my hearing (not all), and I'm much better able to tolerate

some loud noises, the pain is less. I no longer need hearing aids at all,

which saved me $8700.00.

I had pain upfront $9000.00, but when these state-of-the-art digital hearing

aids didn't help at all, I got most of my money refunded. The audiologist no

doubt is qualified, but he just doesn't know anything at all about Lyme or

how Lyme can affect hearing, so it was an exercise in futility on his part &

mine.

Maybe the right antibiotic will take care of your ear problems too. Hope so.

I doubt that my ear problems would be resolved when my Lyme is cured

(thinking positive today!) as I have had serious loss of hearing since I was

35, I am now 51, I got bit when I was 46. Not to say that the loss is not

accelerated from having LD, I am sure that it has become worse sooner than

expected.

You are very fortunate that your hearing has improved when you used the

IV Claforan, my hearing continues to deteriorate regardless of abx or IV

treatments. Wow, those digital hearing aids are expensive! I will stick

with my old fashioned inner ear type, most I have paid is about $700, I have

4 of them, 3 for my right, and one for the left, I need to get another lefty

to have as a spare.

But, did you ever experience drainage in your ears, with or without a

hearing aid?

hi kim, I don't think it's all in your head...sounds like it's all in your

ears!!! LOL!!

seriously, what do your doctors tell you is causing this?

I have a good friend who has a similar problem that occurs several times a year.

He has had to go on a very strong antibiotics...i can't remember what they said

it was.

Kemal and I will see him tonight (going bowling again!) and I'll ask him what

was up with his ears.

seems like our thyroid can cause so many problems. since our thyroid hormones

affect every single cell in our bodies, then seems like it could cause potential

problems everywhere in our bodies. You might have an infection, but the only way

to know for sure is to see a doctor. NO, i do NOT think it's all in your head.

you know deafness can be a hypothyroid symptom. Thyroid hormone works with

vitamin A which has an effect on our hearing. Be sure you are getting

enough thyroid hormone and try cod liver oil, high quality, like Carlson's,

1 tbsp/day.

Hi Betty,

A plugged ear is most often caused by wax build-up. You can put warmed

olive oil in it using an eye dropper to break up the wax, or 1/2 3%

hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 sterile water (boiled for 30 minutes). If

that doesn't work you might need to get a doctor to flush it out.

Did anyone have any problems with there ear getting blocked up at

all?? Before explant my left ear would get blocked up (like when you

go on an airplane and you have to yawn to make it pop!) This has not

gone away since surgery...Today it is so bad, it doesn't hurt it is

just driving me nuts!!!! Just curious if anyone else had this

symptom...thanks!

get the inner ear itch from Hell that just wont stop and it feels like

I need to pop them and it drives me crazy! I've had that for many

years.

Thanks , that sux! It is more annoying then anything! I have

a group of 6 of my friends who want to join your classes...we are

all so excited. Any news on some classes coming up in December?

ROFL!! I didn't know we were doing lap dances! I met with the guy at

Dublin rec center and we are working on it. It won't happen up there

before January though. I am doing a 3 hour workshop downtown on Dec.

18th if you and your friends are up for it. It's a great way to dive

I had many, many ear symptoms while with implants. I went to many doctors, including an ear/nose/throat specialist, who all said there was nothing wrong with my ears. Finally I was diagnosed with TMJ--temporalmandibular joint disorder. I found a specialist who said that ear symptoms were common to this disorder. What I also found was that there is a connection between women with breast implants and TMJ! This was the first time I'd heard this, and it sent me down the road which ultimately led me to this supprt group and to getting my implants out.

My guess is that your explant stirred up your ear symptoms and that they will lessen over time. One thing you might try is lobelia, in tincture form, if you have a good herb store where you live. It is an anti-spasmodic and works well for any kind of muscle tension, which is probably what is causing your ear problem. Do you grind or clench your teeth? This can also cause ear symptoms. You can also try using a heating pad or heated rice bag on your jaw area near your ear. Or try letting the hot water in the shower run on your head and jaw. If any of these things give you some relief, it's probably muscle related. I think it will go away as you get better.

Hi Melinda thanks for your help. I do have TMJ and I NEVER knew that

it was related to the implants. Really crazy! I hope in time these

If you have TMJ then your ear probem is most likely related to that. My TMJ specialist said he has seen so many women with implants and TMJ that he is positive of the connection. My TMJ symptoms got stirred up after my recent explant, but I am confident they will go away with time. I never had TMJ problems before the implants.

If you are having a lot of tension in your face, head or jaw from TMJ, and don't already have a mouthguard, you can get an inexpensive gel-filled one called an Aqualizer online--just Google it. A lot of dentists recommend it, It's actually quite comfortable, and cushions the jaw. But hopefully you will start feeling better soon and won't need it. When did you get your explant again? I forget.

I had my surgery on Oct. 19th, it has been just a couple days over 3

weeks since explant. I just got done taking the dog for a walk and

now they are pounding from the cold air. Ugh, it sux.
