Guest guest
Has anyone tried that new Atkins approved yogurt? I saw some in my local grocery store and got some; you know, it tastes pretty good. I have 2 of them instead of a shake for my 2nd and/or 4th meal. The vanilla one is 12 protein, 3 carbs, 0 sugar, and 1.5 fat. The fruit ones might have 1 g. sugar. Since one carton (6 oz) provides 30% of the RDA of calcium, I figure it is good for me, since I probably don't get enough calcium anyway. (and I sure don't wanna be all stooped over and humpy-backed). <BG> I was checking out some of the other yogurts and they have 30 and over 40 g. of carbs, and only 6 g. protein. These were 68 cents apiece. The brand name is Hood Carb Countdown. Z. WI

I haven't tried them, but I don't trust anything Atkins (although this particular product sounds good). I'll bet the yogurt container says " 3 NET carbs " , right? I've heard on TV that the formula for getting a net carb may be faulty and that in the end all that really matters is calories. Of course if it has no sugar and is low in fat, it's probably an ideal choice for you. Sometimes Atkins products are loaded with fat, because fat is supposed to be okay in their plan. Also the body may not " subtract " fiber carbs to get " net carbs " the way the packages say. That's why some nutritionist say when it comes to Atkins products, compare calories first and foremost. If it has twice the calories of another brand, best to leave it alone. But this yogurt sounds " safe " and I'll probably try some soon! Guest guest
I've tried the Hood Carb Countdown beverage that was pretty good. However, I tried some Blue Bunny Low Carb Yogurt and it didn't taste too great to me. The low carb craze really bugs me but I do like some of the products. I just don't like it that they have to promote the products as low carb to sell them. Some of the products are very unhealthy (like the Hardees Low Carb (Good Morning Heart Attack) Breakfast Bowl) with 50 grams of fat! Andy > Has anyone tried that new Atkins approved yogurt?
