Guest guest Posted October 23, 2009 Report Share Posted October 23, 2009 well the nurontin must be helping,hes up and aggravating me this morning, lol, he loves to do what he calls pickin on me, pinching my ...hmmmmm ....parts, tickin me ,pokin my ribs ,he knows it drives me nuts after like the 3rd time, but i an giving him allowances this morning, one more ass slap ,and i might have to b**** slap in him though hahahahaha (sorry).he looks so much better today,his blood pressure is higher than usual will check with the dr. abnout that. he slept good for like 5 hrs. last nite,so thats a blessing. i wish we did the shots fridays,instead of mondays.seems the first few days are gonna be the worst.we will see.we go to the hand surgeon today, hopefully onto phtsocial therapy to rebuild his strenghth in his hand and arm. i have a list of concerns to ask the hep. dr. i am alittle worried about his kidneys with this new med. i am working on not worring......ya like thats gonna happen hahahaha. i am very intersted to see what the next shot brings.i wanna get this routine down pat ,so i can say ,hang on honey tommorrow you will feel better. everything has a pattern i just have to figure it out,i am keeping a daily journal as well as attaching a pic. of him to the days, and trust me weds. he looked like crap.nothing like he looks today. ok gonna go get things together for the condasending hand surgeon.uggggg i hate drs. like him! but he was neccassary.,much love barby Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Terry was one of those 'pickin at you' kind as well. I always knew when he was the least bit 'off' his best cause I could actually get something accomplished with him around! I think you can gradually work the shots to the day you want to take them by moving them up a day each week. Ask the doctor about that. I chose what day and time I wanted to do mine so it would stay the same every week, and I did my first shot at home. I chose Tuesday so I wouldn't feel bad on Mondays when I have to go in for lab tests and Aranesp shots for the anemia. Most people want to do it on Fridays, especially if they are working, so they will feel better by Monday. The first couple of days after the shot are usually the worst. I've had the headaches too on treatment, but didn't know if it was from the treatment or just normal migraines. Jan has told me about thiers. Remember this, as it stands now, it takes two years to get on medicare even if approved for SSDI. It killed us cause we had to pay out of pocket during the time Sharon was waiting for her answer. When my dad was laid off , and my mom broke both her ankles, they had to take her to what is affectionately known here as DEEGEE, or as it used to be called, Denver General (D G) .. Now it is called Denver Health Medical Center. People who live in Denver county can go to Denver Health, and everyone sles can go to Colorado University. Ardis was enrolled in this program, untill she got her SSDI. Jan told me that they have a similar program for those who live in Az. My grandson is also on it right now because he has the same condition Sharon has, Chiari Malformation, He had surgery 4 1/2 years ago and the symptoms have come back. In order to see a doctor, he had to cut his hours at work to below 30. He works at a fast food restaurant. He finally had an appt with a pcp last Wednesday and is waiting to hear who he will be referred to. The first choice of the pcp I over ruled because I had gone to him myself. I did some research online and found one of the hospitals in Phoenix has an extensive neurology department and they take our insurance. I really haven't been limited in where I can go, just have to get that referral from the pcp. So, instead of making one doctor's appt. lots of times I need two. Some specialists are on the list of doctors you don't need a referral to see, but they also want the records from the pcp, so not much different. I can't complain about the general care, just can't see that they are saving any money using their methods, and it is suppposed to be a health care cost containment system. I do have to take generics when available, and some meds have to have special approval, but usually, it is given when the requesting doctor tells why it is needed rather than a cheaper one. If you think you are close to fulfilling the requirements in your state, I would find out what they are exactly and then get yourself in a position to meet them as my grandson did. Guest guest Posted October 26, 2009 Report Share Posted October 26, 2009 Hi Barby, The lawyers around here wouldn't help me with SSDI either, but someone referred me to a lawyer from Chicago who specializes in getting SSDI for people with Hep C. I got him and he got mine for me in 2001. I didn't have cirrhosis yet then. I could find his name for you if you want. I have it around here somewhere if he's still doing that. He sent a lawyer to go to the hearing with me from Chicago. I live in southern Wisconsin, about two to three hours from Chicago by car. Clinics and hospitals around here have special programs to help people pay their medical bills. When my husband lost his insurance after being let go from his job, he applied for it at the clinic he went to, and didn't have to pay the bill at all since our bills were more than our income coming in, but it was just a one time thing. He's still on unemployment almost a year now since there's aren't any jobs around, but he can't get Medicaid unless the unemployment runs out since they base it on income and assets. I sure hope they keep extending the unemployment. There just aren't any jobs out there. I hope the shot today went ok without too many side effects.
