Guest guest
Hi Val, Well, I thought the surgery would be laparscopic, but they are saying that they will do a laparotomy (large abdominal incision) instead. That means major surgery with at least a 2 day hospital stay. I am *not* happy. I know what just doing too much in a day does to me (takes me days to recover), so I'm gravely concerned how this surgery will affect my adrenals. Actually, I'm really scared that the trauma of it might cause an adrenal crisis (am I just being paranoid?). You said: " Isocort would be a good start. Actually, till you have this surgery out of the way it might be better as it is an OTC med. " Can you tell me why you think this would be better than starting HC? I want to get as physically prepared as possible, so I can hopefully minimize the impact to my body. Joy
Guest guest
Because it is a milder adrenal support so your body won't be as dependent on it. I would also make sure the surgeon and anesthesiologist knows you have weak adrenals. This way they are prepared should you go into shock, which is the reaction your body might have when it becomes too low in cortisol. Then they simply give you an injectable steroids and you will be fine. But you don;t want them wondering what's going wrong, though if anyone in surgery goes into shock, the first thing they do is give steroids! -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
