Guest guest
jenna, skin has a lot of elasticity and it takes time for it to shrink down. I think in about 3 months from now you will start noticing some significant differences! I had a lift with my explant and I am still wrinkled an puckered in places because of so many years of stretched out skin. If you are really upset about it though you might want to try using a facial skin firming cream and see if that helps. : ) > > Hi all, I was just curious if there is anything I can buy that you > know of that will help my puckering around my nipples. i am sure you > guys can all see how extreme it is from my pics on shutterfly. Guest guest
Jenna, by puckering do you mean the areas where you might indent? I indent where my muscles are, and the doctor said after six weeks I can start doing pectoral muscle exercises. She said in time the tissue will redistribute, too, but it could take months. Guest guest
Hi Jenna, This may be a really bad idea for those of you who have had implants removed. After my c-section, my dermatologist placed a strip of silicone over my scar and taped it in place. I kept the silicone strip on for about three weeks, changing the tape daily. This completely flattened my scar. Since you have reacted to silicone, it may not be a wise idea but it does work. Guest guest
That is exactly what I was thinking too. Everything has silicone in it and since I got sick from the silicone in the shell of the implant it makes me wonder if it is a bad idea or not. I emailed Dr. Kolb today to see what she suggests. I ended up buying the maderma because I could'nt find the strips at CVS. --- In , Kenda Skaggs <skaggs@c...> wrote: > > Hi Jenna, > > This may be a really bad idea for those of you who have had implants > removed. Guest guest
Along that similar line...it's been almost four weeks since my explant and one breast is larger than the other. Is this normal and they might " fluff out " to the same size or has it been others' experience that they will fluff out but not necessarily balance out? Any comments please? I realize it's very early to see what will change, but I'm a little spooked by it. Guest guest
no i mean the skin around my nipple. because she did a lift internally there is bunched up skin that is severly puckered around my nipple. take a look on the shutterfly account that we have now with our pictures. the website is http://.shutterfly.com and the password is: implants. My pics are in Album 1 under Jenna. I took a close up shot of my left nipple, you can see it really good there. I know I need to be patient but it seems too deep to heal all the way. And the rude PS from Columbus said that the deep ones would probably be permanant. Although, Dr. Kolb thinks it will heal in time! Guest guest
I agree, I am going to stick with the maderma and vitamin E. more natural. the maderma smells good...it reminds me of the makeup I used to play with as a child. > > > > > > Hi Jenna, > > > > > > This may be a really bad idea for those of you who have had > > implants > > > removed. I'm sure Dr. Kolb has seen enough that she know how you will heal. . . I think the other doctor was just trying to be ugly! If you use it an notice a reaction, you should stop immediately though . . . At least the sheeting is a short term use, and, if you react, you can stop . . . whereas, with breast implants you can't! Guest guest
I have to ask, is it really the silicone that makes us ill or is it the 39+ toxic ingredients used to make up the implant?? I find it hard to say it is the silicone because so very many products contain it that we use everyday and probably used before we ever had implants...that leads me to believe that it is all the toxins more then the silicone itself.I may be dead wrong, but that is my take on it and was wondering what others thought. Hey Jenna how are you doing? I have not had much time to email or post and have thought about your healing. Guest guest
It is both. Some wome have an actual silicone allergy and test positive for it, and others are fine with silicone products but still became ill. Also there is a difference between silica and silicone, one being natural and the other being a man made product with a silica base. So you may tolerate the natural form of silica just fine, but the man made product not so well. > > > > > > > > > > Hi Jenna, > > > > > > > > > > This may be a really bad idea for those of you who have had > > > > implants > > > > > removed. Guest guest
My opinion is that both make us sick, because people with silicone seem to have some the same symptoms as those with saline, however from what I'm learning they have additional symptoms that the salines don't have. Those symptoms seem to be related to the silicone dispersing itself throughout the body. I had saline for six months and had them out a week ago, and hopefully now that they're out of my body, the healing can begin - however I think those with silicone have lingering issues because the silicone has embedded itself in their bodies. Someone with a little more knowledge than me can probably add to this, or correct me if necessary, but this is my understanding at this point. Perhaps those with silicone suffer from both the ingredients in the bag itself, but they also suffer from the silicone inside the implants. Saline people seem to also suffer from mold and other organisms that are growing in the saline, too. Guest guest
Hi - I'm glad you mentioned Silica and Silicone, because I wasn't sure if they were one and the same, and when I looked at the back of the food enzymes I'm taking and saw Silica, I got worried. Guest guest
, Lana, on SiliconeKids, has been campaigning to get silicone hypersensitivity testing offered. You may want to check with her: lanadearest@... Her two sons were extremely sick following their birth while she had implants. They went from one illness to another, in and out of the hospital. She fought tooth and nail to get them tested for silicone hypersensitivy. Finally, when they were tested, along with 25 other children, ALL were found to be hypersensitive to silicone. Lana removed all the silica/silicone products from their environment possible. They made an excellent recovery and have been well for years now. What she found remarkable was that forms of silica/silicone are in so many foods and supplements. Someone who is hypersensitive to silicone may react very poorly to these products. Lana has a wealth of information on the topic, so I'd suggest talking to her for more information. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Thanks Rogene, I agree. I did get an email from Dr. Kolb. She wants me to be patient as well but gave me more info on the scar revision just in case down the road things dont look better. She mentioned that the next 4 months is when the most fluffing will occur so I will stop my worrying and try and be patient. I am just getting tired of hiding my body in front of my husband. I know it would freak him out a bit. I miss being sexy! > > Jenna, > > If it was me, I'd give my self at least six months > before thinking that what you see is the final result! > > I'm sure Dr. Kolb has seen enough that she know how > you will heal. . . Guest guest
Hi, I think it can be both and it also can be implants that have been invaded with micro organisms and pathogens of all sorts. Certainly there are many many studies showing that silicone causes autoimmune reactions and definitely silica (which silicone is made from) has been linked to silicosis and scleroderma and cancer in those who are exposed to silica dust. In addition, silicone implants other than breast implants have also been shown to cause the same symptoms. The question is why do some people react to silicone while others don't. As far as the amount of silicone found in products that we all use, who knows how implicated that it is in disease? There have been studies showing that a high percentage of people with fms test positive for silicone antibodies. This is people without implants. They may have been exposed to silicone through cosmetics and a wide variety of applications. Definitely silicone has the ability to cause disease. But the amount needed, and length of time may vary from person to person. We know that cigarette smoking causes several diseases---but not everyone who smokes will develop disease-- -why is that? Ultimately I think genetics plays a very big part. If you have good enough genes, you can stand just about any insult to your body. Conversely, with poor enough genes, no matter how careful you are to be good to yourself, you may develop cancer or another disease. Unfortunately, we can't control our genes. But we can try to control how many toxins we are exposed to and that includes silicone implants. Guest guest
Jenna - I too have been hiding out from my husband, he hasn't seen me nude since the explant last week. I actually wasn't even looking at myself, but this morning I did, and I said some kind words to myself. I love having my small chest back, though, I just am looking forward to the tissue redistributing a bit so the sunken parts don't sink in anymore. Sis > > Thanks Rogene, I agree. Guest guest
Kathy - I noticed after I got the implants, that suddenly my armpits were very sensitive to the deodorant I was using. I just switched to something called " Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal " , and it comes in a roll-on. I switched to it and it's great!! Probably good for sensitive gals like us!! Guest guest
I picked the deodorant up at Walmart, and I don't notice any wetness or odor, and I've been wearing sweaters and jackets lately - and actually it seems to keep my dryer than the stuff I was using before.
