You will know within an hour if it is what is wrong as you will feel better. But I think you need HC badly. It will not hurt you to take it for up to three days you will not become dependent on it. Try it. That is the best test of whether you need it or not anyway. I am having bad problems myself and our pcp yesterday told me he thought I had PSVT and that's why I have a racing heart and it has nothing to do with my thyroid??..... What will happen if you take hc and that's not what you need. I feel really hyper inside--won't taking it make it worse if you are producing too much? a For the most part, my racing heart stuff only happens between 10pm and 4-430 am. Your symptoms are from excess thyroid hormones running around in your blood, unable to escape into your tissues where they can do you some good. Hydrocortisone will open the door to let them into your tissues. You may need to reduce your thyroid dose for a few days to get rid of the excess. Cortisol does not make your heart race. Excess thyroid hormones do, and so does adrenaline, which is a totally different adrenal hormone which is produced in abundance when we're stressed. Usually you will feel nothing from it at all, like taking a sugar pill! If you need it and take it it will calm panicky feelings and stop shakes and nausea in its tracks. I think I understand...BUT, on the 12th of Feb of this year I had been on 4 grains of Armour for about 5 weeks feeling really good except for a couple weeks prior to that I had been having these stinging pains in the lower part of my ribs--mainly on the right side, but I would also get them on the left sometimes. A couple of nights prior to this morning I had been noticing that I was sleeping really light and not resting well, but I wasn't tired during the day so I didn't think too much of it. Well, the night of the 11th I did not sleep at all and got up that morning to take my morning dose of meds (2 1/2 grains of Armour, 2 magnesiums, and 1 Adrenogen (doc gave it to me)) and within about 10 minutes I felt extremely week, my heart was racing and I was shaking so bad I could hardly get my clothes on when I told hubby I needed to go to the er. Of course, by the time we get to the er my heart stops racing, but I still feel really tense in my chest and I am weak and very tired. The next day (monday) I go to our pcp and he runs some thyroid tests to see if my thyroid meds were too much and he said they were fine T3 uptake 34.4 (24-40) T4 11.3 (4.5-12.0) Thyroid (t7) calculation 3.9 (1.4-4.6) and to just go back to my 4 grains and all should be fine. About 5 or 6 years ago I had this happen when I was on synthroid and the doc I had at the time was trying to be nice by upping my dose when I was tired and all and it took forever to get my body evened back out then--this was going from one doc to the next and have them alllook at me saying it was all in my head thing. --Not enough time or room on this list to go into all that. But, now I have my pcp saying my heart racing has nothing to do with my thyroid, but it's the paroxysmal superventricular tachycardia thing and not to worry it can be fixed, yada, yada, etc. I am getting desperate here, last night I didn't sleep until sometime around 3 am because I had a kind of scared nervous feeling inside that made me feel like jumping out of my skin. I would just lay in bed and try to think of other things and breathe deeply and relax, but by 1130 last night my heart was racing. When it was over I still tried the relaxing thing and still couldn't go to sleep until 3am. Oh, and I haven't (with the exception of 1/2 grain for 5 days) had anymore Armour so I'm getting the fatigue, achy tired feelings again. Could this be my adrenals or something else. I almost feel like I am stressed inside, but don't have anything in my life that would cause stress like that. I waited a month and then tried starting over with the armour at 1/2 grain and by the 5th day when trying to clean house I would have to lay down and rest every 30 minutes or so because my arms and legs felt like jello.
