HI... I'm a long time Lymer as is my husband who contracted it from me back in

'96. We had a daughter in '05 and despite abx treatment, I relapsed in the 3rd

trimester and I think that's when she was infected. We did not vaccinate at all

b/c we knew the testing we had done at birth (placenta, etc) was not reliable

100%). She had allergies right away to the formula and I put her on Elecare

right away and gave her probiotics, etc.

At 1 1/2 I knew something wasnt' right. At 2 she suddenly became severely ill

with swelling on the side of her face. The ER gave her a rocephin shot and

recommended her ped give her 2 more. She was losing language, didn't acknowledge

when we were in the room etc. I got her evaluated at 2 and she was diagnosed

PDDNOS and sensory integration disorder. We immediately scheduled with Dr. J

(knowing of him for a very long time) and managed to get in quick due to a

cancellation. She diagnosed her w Lyme and probably coinfections and started

treatment with antibiotics. We noticed improvement right away. With probiotic

treatment there were no side effects.

She is now, at 5 considered mild Asperger's/ high functioning autism. She

continues to take abx and just started a babesia regimen because I think that is

what is keeping her at the plateau we've been at. I know of a lot of alternative

treatments I can give her but most of them I cant' afford due to massive debt

due to our disability in the past and the fact that doc visits are not covered

by insurance...

But, abx and aggressive early intervention has made incredible strides. I know

that during the 10 years I was undiagnosed, I used a lot of 'alternative' stuff

but IMO nothing works like the antibiotic cannon and nothing DID work until I

got some in me.

My daughter is doing so well that I had trouble getting the preschool to help me

get her services continued into kindergarten in the fall! Her main issue is

social interaction... pretty much her only issue but it is very bad. She is an

energetic, loving and very intelligent little girl who is good about taking her

medicine and has no idea she is " special needs. " When she finds out I will have

to tell her something I know and I'm still working on that.

I know Tami and am looking forward to meeting the rest of you. I have to admit

most of the posts are like a foreign language to me with all the supplements and

stuff. Once I get her more comfortable with the mepron addition (she was on zith

and rifampin and now zith and mepron) then I will try again to get some of the

grapefruit seed extract in her. Super picky eater doesn't like orange juice and

I don't want her rejecting " medicine " by forcing a lot on her but I know I need

to add to her regimen to put the final nail in this Lyme coffin!!

Hope everyone is doing well,

Jen :)

Jen:

Welcome. I have little knowledge about the antibiotics, so it would be nice for

you to help answer those questions, especially how you used the probiotics to

keep the antibiotics from causing problems.

Love and prayers,

Heidi N
