How my employment situation is going....

Hello fellow Aspiresers...

I just finished up my first at my new job (which is at really, my old job,

because I worked there previously). I am paid much more money, and made out

like a bandit when negotiating with this company, who was after me like crazy to

return to work to them. I made sure they were going to pay a pretty penny for

me to return to work for them, even in this economy. And they did, all because

of the great job I did for them last time. I felt my requests were more than

reasonable.

They met all my stipulations, and I had no problems " walking away " if they

didn't. They met my accommodations with AD/HD and AS. They are having me work

by myself (within a team), doing the vast majority of detailing of information

from blueprints to the company's tech software package - while drawing

elevations and other stuff (like keeping logs of fire labels which are used on

doors and frames in commercial buildings).

Basically, I'm the only estimator in the company. The rest are front staff,

laborers, and project managers. That's why people like me are very important,

to help make the lives of the project managers better (before I become a project

manager myself).

The previous gen manager (when I worked there the first time) had two sets of

rules - the company's and his own. Eventually, he got canned about six months

after I resigned the first time. I am not going into any of the details. Just

was a large source of stress that myself and others there did not need. A few

other sources of stress no longer work at the company either. The general

contactors, superintendents, and the such, stress is part of the job and I can

deal with that. I did the last time pretty well.

They are paying me roughly 35% more per hour this time around the last time I

worked at the hardware distributor. I am making over 55% more per hour than at

my most recent employment, plus I have a wonderful health insurance package (and

can buy other supplementary insurances if I want). I have my own office (a large

free flowing space). Above all, the owner and current gen manager felt they put

too much on me too early, and are allowing me to develop at my own pace.

They're more than willing to give me the resources I need to succeed.

I couldn't have asked to work someplace that was as close to my dream job

without being my dream job. My ultimate dream job would be to play the sax on

tour (by myself or with others). The position works very well to my strengths.

The people who are still there remember me very well, and were happy when I came

back to work for the company. Time after time, people there remembered me for

the great job I did the first time. And how nice of a person I was.

This is the kind of job I can be 15-20 minutes early every day, and look forward

to being there each and every day. That's about enough time daily for me to

settle into my work. I have a supportive owner and managers. Just like the

last time I worked there, I got along with most everyone well. Same thing this

time. Just an enjoyable atmosphere to work. I was impressed when I sat down

with them a couple of weeks ago, to hear their pitch of how much they wanted me

back there.

I'm still planning to move out to the Pacific Northwest, but working where I am

now will delay that for awhile.

Dx'd AS and AD/HD combined in Sept 2007 (officially), and part of Aspires since

Nov 2007
