Welcome Mahta,

I can't believe that you can get turned down for food stamps when

neither of you were working...scarey..!!!! And have they ruled out

Rheumatoid arthritis??? The reddness was a red flag for me in your

posting. Wish I could help you more regarding disability and how to

claim is as I'm looking into the same thing for my daughter. She 22

so alot of doors close for me when I try to check on things being

she's an adult. She saw her Dr. at the clinic Monday and if we had

insurance she'd be in the hospital right now.

My disability is work related and over the years I've just

confounded things with more and more medical problems so the

original cause or reason for the disability is actually moot at this

point.

Last time Tina became ill and had no ins. whe filed for

something at the dept. of ss and recieved medical coverage for

anything coving her knee but had to go to the university hosp. in

Iowa City. I'm praying we can get her back there again for her sake

and soon. She has an acute bleeding sinusitis and bronchitis and a

good chance that pneumonia is settling in her lower lung. and the

hives which I was hoping was nerves................are hives and

soft tissue swelling something she basically lived with for 12 years

when she had juvinile rheumatoid arthritis JRA She needs blood work

done to see if that's the case and maybe a bone marrow repeated to

see if her 'good' CBC they drew in the office is hiding immature

cells...has had neutropenia in the past too. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I hate being a nurse at times...too much knowlege and yet not

enuf ...

As far as pain meds and anti-depressants I'm 20 plus years

from what someone would take just starting out. And so many 'new'

drugs out there it's really shocking to me that elevil and darvocet

haven't been made OTC meds. But they must be some of the best as

they've been around a long awhile.

> Everyone says I'm in denial and don't want to admit something is

> wrong with me....is that normal? To experience denial, I mean?

> Guess I have kind of hoped that ignoring it would make it go

away.

Yes denial is a step that we all have had to face and it can include

deporession-anger-ets. I kept my nursing license updated for years

not willing to give up on someone haveing a 'cure' so I could go

back to feeling 'normal' what ever that was. The hardest part for me

to live with and it's true now as it was 20 years ago..was how

totaly useless I'd feel when even cleaning my house or keeping it

picked up was/is more than I can do. My husband is a gift from

Heaven. Most men would feel ovewhelmed to work 8 hour days and have

to come home to a noisy house ful of kids and dishes or laundry to

do. But we've had 28 years of perfect harmony I thank God for every

day. I still have some denial factors I deal with every day. We've

thankfuly learned to live with a messy house..not dirty per se tho

we need to vacumm more than once a month. LOL I'll still at times

try to 'neaten' the place up and end up sitting on the floor..unable

to get up....but laughing about it...that is so important to be able

to laugh at myself...so others could laugh too.

Just Me...... k

Dear ,

I am sorry to hear that your daughter is having so many problems. The

Privacy Act, which was passed to protect the confidentiality of adult

patients, actually works against them when they someone like you who is

trying to get help for them. Fortunately, Elwyn's oncologist never

gives me a hard time about calling for his stuff, although I am listed

on the Privacy Agreement as one of two people they can release

information to. I pray that your daughter will get in to see a doctor

and get treatment for her condition soon.

hugs and prayers,

Sharon - Memphis, TN

Faith...with it, miracles *CAN* and *DO* happen!

Hi ,

So nice of you to respond. I haven't been back to the Drs. yet, but

that is coming up on my agenda because of the disability. I'm sure

there are a lot of tests she will want to put me through. I have

been religiously taking my meds and being a good girl and feel

somewhat better today.

So sorry to hear about your daughter. I wish you all the luck and

hope she gets better soon.

I know what you mean about being a Nurse, my best friend is one and

has been saying that for years. She always thinks the worst about

everything, not because she wants to but because she knows what it

can lead to.

Thank God for the wonderful men in our lives...we must migrate

towards the ones that can handle what we go through.

Thanks again for answering.

Gentle hugs,

Mahta
