Guest guest
Hi everyone! I am new to the group and am greatful to be accepted. My father has late stage cirrhosis and has had two bandings done on his esphogal varicies. He has severe cramps in his legs and hands and a great deal of pain in his abdomen when he walks. He was in the emergency room on Monday and they sent him home. He went to his PCP on Thursday and was told his liver is completely shot and he is bleeding internally (somewhere). The Dr. said he could have 3 weeks or 3 months they are surprised at how long he has lasted. I feel so many things right now about how the doctors have handled this, but my main concern is what will happen to my dad in his end days. Is he going to slowly bleed to death? Will he have severe pain? I don't want him to be in any more pain than he already is. He is 82 yrs old and is not bed ridden or anything, but he gets tired alot. I just want to understand the progression of the illness so that I can make his time more pleasant. Thank you in advance to anyone who responds.
