Guest guest
okay, we are having a slow day at work so I got the 2000 drug book out here at the hospital..it has a fancier name but I'm too lazy to type it... here's what I'm reading about Urso.... it talks about being on Urso, that liver functions should be taken every month for three months after starting, then every six months...it says if there is an increase of functions after starting therapy, it should be discontinued.....why would that be? It also says...and I quote... " Ursodiol may be effective in slowing down the progression of the disease " ....so that's a positive thing. Asacol...though we are told asacol is relatively harmless, I'm a little alarmed at the list of adverse effects... primarly on the gastrointestinal side of things....it says that anybody with hepatic problems should be monitored closely...it also says that there have been asymptomatic elevations of liver functions associated with asacol. These are resolved as therapy continues or when asacol is discontinued....and of course it reminds us that hepatic complications are common with inflammatory bowel disorders.... how can elevations of liver functions be asymptomatic....I guess I know that you can have this elevations without symptoms...but isn't there a reason for that elevation...from what I read this stuff is hard on the renal system also..... can't seem to win for losing here.... any thoughts those medically inclined?????? thanks, Patti _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
