Looking at it from a fresh perspective this

morning, I would have to say that NO, calling myself an asshole was not

useful. I can learn from my actions

without putting myself down and calling myself negative names!

The delay button would be a great idea, but I

think we need to nurture the internal delay button (sit on it; sit with it). At least, I do!

I was feeling pretty depressed yesterday and

seeing just about everything in a negative light. Thank God for new days and new

perspectives!

Yes, my asshole-nests is a useful thought

because it taught me that flinging out knee-jerk responses based on initial

emotions is not a good thing. So my

mistake taught me something.

NO, I am not interested in the delay

button. I think we learn as much

from the replies we choose to send

immediately as we do from the ones we delay. Your invention would stymie a lot of

learning potential. It would keep

us safer, but who wants safe when it comes to learning about each other? It may not be pretty, but we need to let

expression happen.

Accepted.

Is your " assholeness " a useful thought?

I'm working on an invention - placing a time delay on the email SEND button

with a prompt later that asks " Are you sure you want to send this

email? " I think it would be a big seller. I would buy it. Interested?

I

And how did this post serve the greater good of the ACT

list? It seems to

be a critical and judgmental response to other posts that you deemed

inappropriate, but seems to have come from the ego and not from a desire to

provide useful information.

I may not post the 'wisdom' you purport to have, but I am honest and not

ego-driven.

Astrolabe

An astrolabe (Greek <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_language>

:

?????????? astrolabon 'star-taker')[1]

is a historical

used by classical

astronomers <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomy>

, navigators

, and astrologers

.. Its many uses include locating

and predicting the positions of the Sun <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun>

,

Moon <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon>

, planets

, and stars

; determining local time (given local

latitude) and vice-versa; surveying; and triangulation

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangulation>

..

In the medieval Islamic world

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age>

, they were introduced by

Eastern Christian scholars[2]

and used primarily for

astronomical studies <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_astronomy>

, as

well as in other areas as diverse as astrology

, and timekeeping

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time>

.. In the European nations, astrolabes

were used to construct horoscopes <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horoscopes>

, for astronomical studies, and for navigation.

There is often confusion between the astrolabe and the mariner's astrolabe

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariner%27s_astrolabe>

.. While the astrolabe

could be useful for determining latitude on land, it was an awkward

instrument for use on the heaving deck of a ship or in wind. The mariner's

astrolabe was developed to address these issues.
