Guest guest
Boy, will you get a lot of response from here. I run the Coalition of Silicone Survivors, and do not give out names, but many women on this site had saline implants, with varying degrees of problems. Guest guest
You and I are in the same boat. I also cancelled my augmentation after spending a few hours here. The stories here are enough to keep me out of a plastic surgeon's office! My health is not something I am willing to gamble for larger breasts. Finally I am at peace with my body and appreciate it the way it is, small chest and all. Guest guest
I still struggle with my decision not to proceed with it. I am conscious of being programmed by our culture to belief that big, voluminous breasts are the most desireable type. After I had my child, I lost volume and went down a cup size (C to a , and that really did something to me. It bred a deep sense of inadequacy; I feel inadequate whenever I see naturally well-endowed women. Guest guest
Hi, Lynda. Does your organization serve women who have had silicone implants, or all types of implants (understanding that saline implants have a silicone shell)? > >I am a member here at Saline Support, so please do not assume I am > >posting simply to look for people to interview. > > > >I am a woman who has struggled - and still debates - whether or not to > >get implants. Guest guest
I understand completely, I share the same reason with you. I was a nice perky B-C before breastfeeding and am now a not so perky A-B now. I call them 1/2 breasts. I wish my breasts were more youthful but they aren't and I'm ok with that. You might try yoga, it's great for self acceptance. Kenda > I still struggle with my decision not to proceed with it. Guest guest
Well, getting implants is the biggest regret of my life. I miss my natural breasts, and when I got the implants I realized it made no difference what-so-ever in how I felt about my body, in fact I felt worse about my body because I just felt so fake. I also started having symptoms within a few weeks of getting the implants, so I came to hate them. Now I am counting the days until these things are out of my body, from day one I felt claustrophobic with them in me. Honestly, I would have had them taken out within the first month if I could have, but I was confused and hubby was acting like I was crazy. I've been in alot of pain the last week or so, hands, arms, legs, elbows, feet. Anyone have any suggestions on what to take for the joint swelling? I normally take Advil but can't take it now because my surgery is in 2.5 weeks (Dr. Feng recommends no Advil 3 weeks prior to surgery). Anyone have any suggestions for reducing joint swelling or pain? I do have a prescription for Celebrex, but I haven't taken any (it's for pain after the upcoming surgery, and the doctor said she'd give me a refill in the event I need to use some before surgery to help with the joint pain). Guest guest
Have you considered announcing your plans to interview women on a proimplant site like www.implantinfo.com? They are staffed by women whose job it is to encourage you to get implants through one of their sponsored surgeons. They write under multiple names on multiple sites - lipo, face, implants, etc. . . They don't take complaints lightly! In fact, they get mad! They got my provider to cancel my service for sending " unsolicited " mail to women asking questions about their implants. . . Also messed with my computer! It would be interesting to see what kind of interview they would give you! . . . Guest guest
Sis, I'd stick with what your doctor offers in the way of medication before your surgery. However, you may find that hot Espom salt baths (2 cups) help draw the pain out . . . massage and stretching may help too. Be sure to eat well - no sugar, processed foods and only whole grains. Drink a lot of water. It won't be long before you can start detoxing seriously. Just a little longer to go. I know it seems like an eternity! . . . Please be very good to yourself! Hugs and prayers, Rogene

Guest guest
It sounds like you need some volunteers.... I will do an interview if you need one! I had saline implants and was made very sick by them...you can call me at home. Send me a private email and I'll reply with my phone number. Guest guest
LOL! I expected that kind of response! . . . But that really says it all, doesn't it? They don't want anything said about breast implants that doesn't gloss over the problems and promote their sales! I'd be happy to talk to you . . . but I'm not sure I'm the type you want. . . I had the old gel implants (1978) for sixteen years. My experience is not the same as what young women today are experiencing. Younger women would probably be more relevant to today's readers. If you'll email me privately, we can discuss it. Patty, and some of the other young women would really be ideal. Others I can think of are Colleen, Shari, and . Lana on SiliconeKids, would probably be a good one. Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
So, let me get this straight, implantinfo.com and implantforum.com are owned by doctors or other relevant stakeholders?! Thankfully, a few people have e-mailed me, so I hope to be able to get these done before my deadline. I really want to focus on saline implants, since those are what most women are getting these days, though there appears to be a return to silicone via the gummy bear gel types. > > LOL! > > I expected that kind of response! . . . Guest guest
That's right! . . . The proimplant forums are a public relations business intended to collect patients for their advertisers (plastic surgeons)! Who owns them? I don't know. They charge big bucks for listing a plastic surgeon! I think some plastic surgery groups have their own. If you could get an interview with them, it could prove very interesting! . . . Even more interesting would be interviewing ex-employees! That's where you get the straight skinny! . . . The grapevine, stemming from a former implantinfo.com, told us about how employees pose as prospective patients, and as satisifed patients. Their job is to encourage women to have cosmetic procedures done while negating the problems. I found out that I had cost them some big bucks. They beefed up their computer systems so they can keep track of who comes to their group, and if desired, mess up their computers, or make their computers crash. Another implant woman and I had a system going where she would go there with WebTV and forward messages to me where women seemed to be needing help . . . WebTV didn't leave the fingerprint that computers do . . . However, after responding to about 500 women who were asking questions about problems they were having, they found a way to send her WebTV to porno sites when she tried to access the group! They claim that we won't respond to their request for proof that implants are dangerous. NOT TRUE! . . . All efforts to tell the truth are shut down or rebuffed! Guest guest
How interesting, because when I was frequenting one of those sites, I wondered if some of the regulars were actually being paid to respond to questions. Some of these people claim to have had their implants done years ago, and yet they're posting every single day. Those same regulars are the ones who will attack anyone who even hints that implants might make you sick. Sis > > > > LOL! > > > > I expected that kind of response! . . . Guest guest
The " regulars " post under different names, change names, and post on their various sites . . . like breast, face and lipo. . . Some never had implants or surgery. . . they are just paid to post garbage! It should be criminal! . . . But the government isn't interested in regulating anything that would cut into corporate profits! Guest guest
Yes, Kenda. That is totally fine. Actually, it really adds to my story. Please shoot me an e-mail and let me know when I could give you a ring on Sunday or Monday. divapoet@... > >>>> > >>>> You and I are in the same boat. Guest guest
, Your anxiety is about getting better after explant is perfectly normal . . . Please relax and understand that, your choices are having them removed and probably getting well, or keeping them and probably getting worse - maybe much worse. Should you decide to change your mind after being explanted . . . you can always reimplant . . . HOWEVER, if you aren't healthy, you're a poor prospect. If you are healthy, you know that your body and implants aren't a good combination! It would be great if you, and all the other women who were blindly lead down the path to implants would complain to Leonard <nml@...>. She's the governments spokswoman for breast implants. She can't personally do anything. But she can pass the word along. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Lea, There is a " " but she has another name. She's testified before the FDA panels to get approval for breast implants. Ilena knows her name. I don't remember. If anyone does have children born after breast implants who are experiencing health problems, they may be interested in a support group I started earlied this year . . . It's 's SiliconeKids. You can find it with a web search, or, if you'll let me know, I can send and invitation. We don't have a lot of messages. The mothers I've spoken to tell me it's extremely hard to discuss their children's problems online. Some of the children don't know their problems were caused by breast implants. We have some adult children affected by silicone in the group. I would encourage anyone with affected children to join and to share their experience with others. Unfortunately, so far our appeals to the FDA to find out why implants cause some children to get sick have gone unanswered. Guest guest
, If you'll go infoimplant.com, look for their " Sponsors " . . . They pay thousands of dollars each year for the privlege! . . . Some doctors used to participate in the discussions. I haven't followed them for a long time, so I don't know if they still do or not. They will definitely try to steer women to one of their doctors. If I remember right, one of their posting PS's got in trouble for hitting on newcomers online. Unfortunately, the proimplant sites can afford to pay for prominent positions on search engines. So, they come up first if someone is looking for information. That they pass themselves off as being patients and not advertisers should be criminal! Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Yes, but what if it is the implants? You have to ask yourself, " Do I want to take that chance with my future? " If you are reacting now, there is a 100% chance that you will continue to react in the future to your implants, and probably continue to get worse, maybe even to the point of disability and/or wheelchair. I know of women in that boat. We have all faced these questions. I know it is not any fun at all. I hated going through the wondering about the real truth behind my health issues. I just wanted someone to tell me for sure! I wanted to know if it was the implants for sure or not! But nobody could answer that question, because there is too much at stake, for the manufacturer's, the plastic surgeons, the FDA, everybody. In the end, I had to do what was best for ME and my body, my family, my future, my health. The bottom line was that if the implants had even a small chance of contributing to the decline in my health, I wanted them OUT NOW, because my children needed me, my husband needed me to be a wife to him, and I had my future to look forward to. I knew that I would have to deal with them at some point in time anyway. I couldn't just stick my head in the sand about it, because the day was coming when I would have to make a choice. It was much easier to get it over and done with and be done with implants forever. The controversy over the long term affects of implants causing illness in women exists for a reason. It isn't because women are making all this stuff up in their heads, and it isn't because lawyers are greedy. It is because women are getting sick, by the thousands from breast implants and the manufacturers are doing everything in their power to obfuscate, deny and confuse the issue. They cannot afford to face the truth. I wish you and your family the best! Please think long and hard about this and do what is best for them, because they do need you! Patty > > I am speachless. Guest guest
I was sucked in by the site too. I even asked about health risks with implants and was told there weren't any. As soon as I brought up issues my ND told me to check into, I got the cold shoulder. Fortunately I found this list after the other list. For some reason, this list is much harder to find with search engines. Kenda > I definitely got sucked in by that site. Guest guest
I definitely got sucked in by that site. I went there before I had my implants done, and I falsely believed that if women were getting sick from implants, that I would find that information there. I'm sure others think the same, that they'll get accurate information instead of getting lead down the silicone path!! Sis > > , > > If you'll go infoimplant.com, look for their > " Sponsors " . . .
