Re: How often can you fast?

. . .

Patty is the fasting expert! . . .

It does take time . . . Are you getting sufficient

deep sleep? Exercising moderately? Drinking plenty of

water? Have you tried the spit test to see if you

have a systemic fungal problem? Are you taking

probiotics?

Which vitamins and herbs are you taking? Are you

taking a quality brand? Sometimes it's best to back

off everything, then slowly start adding them, one at

a time so you know how you feel with them.

Also . . . check for silicone dioxide in your

supplements and vitamins. You may be hypersensitive to

silicone so taking supplements with it are aggravating

the problem.

Yes, in my opinion it is possible to be taking too much. Also

expensive and possibly a waste of time and money. It is very hard to

tell if something is affecting you when you are taking too many things

together. What all are you taking? I really feel that you should be

taking something to control candida---primal defense and something

else like oil of oregano or olive leaf extract. I would include

garlic and onions in my diet, and coconut oil. Those also kill yeast

and pathogens. Other than that, you would be better off concentrating

on detoxing. As for healthy eating, the more raw foods the better.

You should strive for at least 50% of more of your intake to be raw.

Your body needs enzymes! Juicing organic produce can be very

helpful. Fasting can be useful, but it can also be done too much.

All of these things can produce " cleansing reactions " or herxes. One

reason you may be so tired is because you are " herxing " Extreme

fatigue is the most common symptom of herxing. That is another reason

to look at what you are doing and possibly slow down and do only a few

things at a time. You will get there. Tiredness was one of my most

persistent symptoms and I still get it whenever I herx.

You bet you can take too much. Have you had any lab work that would

indicate what you are low in?

Actually, this is not unusual...I was still feeling very sick and

poisoned 18 months post explant! It was after that that I decided to

kcick another fasting program into gear and things started getting

better and better. For some of us, this healing effort just takes a

very long time. I read somewhere that it takes the immune system 7

years to fully rejuvenate, so don't be too impatient to get better. I

made that mistake and was almost in despair over my healing, but it

did happen. It just took alot longer than I wanted it to.

You can overdo the vitamins. My suggestion would be to cut back on

them. Poor quality vitamins can actually place a burden on the liver,

especially if you take loads of them. I also made that mistake! I

started feeling better when I cut back on them, and now take them in

cycles. You really, really want to assist your liver as much as

possible, and sometimes that means letting it clear itself out.

A liver flush may be a good idea for you to consider.

Oops, sorry, forgot to answer your question! I would suggest a

program of fasting that you find comfortable. My naturopathic doctor

fasts one day a week. I've also seen programs where you fast one day

a week, 3 days a month, and 10 days a season. That is a little too

intense for me. As I mentioned in another post, I know that devout

Jews fasted twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays) in centuries past.

So, you can put together a program that you are able to handle, but

really be careful of overdoing it if you are very thin.

You also want to make sure you are giving your body enough time to

build up its glutathione reserves in between fasts, because fasting

can deplete those. Glutathione is very, very important for fighting

free radicals. You can get glutathione in supplements like Immunocal

and BioPure protein, as well as certain fruits and vegetables, like

watermelon. I think I have a post in the files section on glutathione

(?). If I don't, please be sure to do an internet search on it!

Other sources of glutathione rebuilding will come from supplementing

with alpha lipoic acid, N-acetyl-cystine (or NAC, for short), and milk

thistle.

I hope this helps you get past that fatigue !

Someone recently told me about a product called Reliv. I haven't

tried it yet, but I understand it's considered a food supplement, and

supposedly has given alot of sick people their lives back. Has

anyone heard of it? It comes in powdered form and you drink it in

shakes.
