Guest guest
, An adult should get at least 25 grams of fiber per day. That's really hard to do unless you make a point to do it. My husband and I use Metamucil regularly to make sure we get the fiber. Of course, we are 44 (almost) and 50 (almost), so that's an issue we are concerned with moreso than the youngsters! Sara ----- Original Message ----- .. Could it be the diet, is there something special i should eat or i have seen many of those diet teas and stuff, do they do more harm than help???? I need something............Im eating whole wheat items, so i would think that just that would help immensely, but whats your take on this? thanks!!! Since I have started BFL, my digestive system has been working nicely, well at least a little better than before, however, this week for some reason I have been super constipated. .................................................. Hi , Good answers from the others... more fiber is good. I add ProFibe to my protein shakes every day, because I am not so good about eating 5- a-day of fruits and veggies. You can get Profibe at Netrition.com, here's the link: http://www.netrition.com/profibe_powder_page.html The thing I wanted to point out is that if you haven't been having problems so far, this week might be hormonally-related not nutrition- related. It's not unusual to become constipated in the week before your period. Just a thought. Jen B.
Guest guest
Jen, Lots of factors can lead to stress and varying levels of irregularity. Increasing your fiber intake should help. I use Fiber One when I know I'm short of my targeted daily minimum. I'm shooting for up to 40 grams per day and one cup of fiber one is 28 grams. ...More than the suggested normal adult daily intake. Add 2 or 3 large apples and I'm there. Also, nothing like some no-fat cottage cheese and fiber one to clear out the old tummy by morning. If so...that could be it. Drink more water. Dehydration is often the culprit of constipation. Kelley
