You're a big dude! :-) And that was my point, that many men have

really big hands...so a fist sized serving can be pretty big for some

and I guess I was worried it might actually be " too " much of a

serving.

btw, I

Since cottage cheese is so high in protein I've also considered

eating it once or twice a day. Also, my finances are such that I

can't afford more than one EAS protein powder serving per day...so I

thought cottage cheese might be a good " second " to use for the other

meals.

I'll have to try it with crushed red pepper. Just recently I fixed a

bowlful of cottage cheese and added cinnimon, a drop of vanilla

flavoring, and some Splenda sweetner to it and I was shocked to see

how much it tasted like a cinnemon role! YUM!!!! Made a nice

little " protein packed desert " !!!

So milk is mostly a carb, eh? Wow! I would have thought otherwise.

Food can be tricky! Ha!

Thanks for your reply!

Terry,

Check out the Vitaglo site for the EAS shakes. They're net, net is

about $1.10 per shake.

...Just about the cost of a helping of cottage cheese in my area.

Hi Terry!

I eat a lot of cottage cheese too, because it's cheaper than MRPs,

keeps you full longer, and there are soooo many ways you can eat it!

Although I have to make a comment on your recipe with cinnamon,

splenda and vanilla.... tastes like a cinnamon roll?!?!? Now that's

a BFL-brainwash!!! That may taste pretty damn good, but there's NO

way that tastes like a cinnamon roll! LOL ;)

Here's some of the ways I eat cottage cheese:

1) Plain with fresh fruit

2) With salsa and celery sticks (need to add a carb to make it BFL)

3) Sprinkle with celery salt and spread on whole grain crackers

4) Protein pancake (blend with 3-4 egg whites and 1/3-1/2 c. oatmeal,

a little splenda and cinnamon, cook like a pancake in a frying pan

w/non-stick spray)

5) BFL cheesecake (blend cottage cheese smooth with 1-2T nonfat milk,

add 1T SF vanilla pudding mix, refrigerate until set, serve with

crushed fresh fruit)

6) Mix with hot cooked, plain oatmeal

7) Apple " crisp " - mix 1 chopped tart green apple with a sprinkle of

Splenda and cinnamon, microwave until soft, then pour over serving of

cottage cheese and top with 1T chopped nuts, crisped)

Anyone else have some cool ways they eat cottage cheese? I'd love to

hear them!

Well, you got me there! Ha! Hard to beat the real deal, isn't it!

Thanks for those great recipes for serving cottage cheese, Jen! I'm

gonna try them! Especially the cheesecake! Thanks for sharing those.

He said basically not to worry much on getting portions exact. I

> find by using a modest sized plate and about equal portions of meat

or

> protein, a starch, and a salad or veg steamed does the trick

usually.

Thanks for confirming a solution I'd pretty much come to, also. It's

the way I used to eat using a Weight Watchers type of diet where you

end up with portions on the plate that looked equal to each other.

He probably simplified proteins carbs, and fats to make it

> easier to figure.

Good to hear!!! That is why I've had so many questions sent to this

list, because I've had trouble figuring out this " balance " of protein

and carbs.

What is a serving of black beans? It is really both a

> protein and a carb

That is another " point of arguement " one could have with Bill about

placing beans in the " carb " catagory. It is, as you said, both a carb

and a protein. But if you'll notice, Bill list veggie burgers as

an " authorized " protein....but veggie burgers are nothing more than

soy beans! So why not place ALL beans in the protein catagory?

Some would argue with his logic on that one. I myself am thinking

that all beans maybe SHOULD be placed in the " protein "

catagory...especially for men like me who's family has a history of

heart disease and doctors encourage those in that range to eat less

meat (cholesterol).

Thanks for sharing this helpful info!
