Guest guest
Hello everyone, Well, on a somewhat lighter note….. My agent has got me a very interesting acting job. I’m to be a role-playing actor – depicting a Psychiatric patient for a test for trainee Psychiatrists. So Friday week, I’ll be showing up at a prominent Melbourne Hotel to train during the day; and on the Saturday, I’ll be ushered into a consulting room at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where these poor trainee Psychs will have to interview me to determine just what disorder I suffer from, and then how to tackle me as a patient. I feel sorry for the poor guys (and ladies) with a couple of Examiners looking on and ticking off scores and assessments on a sheet. I’ve been told by a Psychiatrist friend that they get terribly nervous about it. he did his similar exam in New Zealand some 14 years ago. There are I believe over a dozen of us actors booked for the job. presumably they’ll be looking at us and saying “you’re Schizophrenic” and “you’re Bi-Polar” and etc. it’s going to be just fascinating. Be awfully funny if they wanted to give me the part of an Autistic!!! They know already that I’m Aspie and have written a book. Happily it didn’t put them off. It’ll be worth upwards of $500 gross to me for the two days work. On a recent Commercial shoot, (doing a Beef commercial), one of the other extras was telling me that she did one of these role-playing jobs some three years ago, and enjoyed it very much. Presumably very challenging. I’m most interested to know just how much initiative we are allowed. Do we have to stick strictly to the ‘script’ they give us? Can we improvise body language for the various conditions? Etc etc. I’ll give you a report afterwards, Cheers, Ron.
Guest guest
Ron, thank you for the update! Sounds like you are completely mended from your surgery last year and back in business again. You are an inspiration ... hope I'm at least half as active as you are when I got to where you are now.
