Guest guest
Hi, I'm a soap maker and wanted to let you know that glycerin soaps are not mild at all and 9 times out of 10, are made from a chemical base made from alcohol. Even when glycerin soap is made at home, its main ingredient is still alcohol. A mild soap is going to be a handmade soap from oils that are nourishing to the skin, that is made from lye. The lye activates the water and oils and causes them to go through a chemical change, making soap. No lye remains in the soap if it is made correctly. Guest guest
- I have been using burt's bee for my makeup. I like their foundation and especially their lip gloss. they have nothing harmful in them. I am not especailly happy with their blush andregular lipsticks however. I also have some products from Dr. Haushcka. They are all organic and they are sold online and at Wholefoods store. As far as the bare essentials, I tried them in St. Louis mall where they had a store. For myself, I wasn't that impressed, but I also researched it and they do have silicone. I personally am not interested in putting silicones on my face. I wish the public knew just how much silicone is in their everyday products. Plus, you must read your labels. Just because a product is organic doesn't mean its safe. Some of them still have the plastics and silicones in them. Burts Bees line does not!! Many lipsticks contain silicone and of course we are ingesting that. It is hard to find shampoos and styling products that don't contain polymers. That is why I went to the miracle 2 shampoo/soap. Guest guest
Kathy Thanks for the info. Can you tell me how it would be listed in the ingredients - the silicone I mean? I never knew that. What are the names of some of the ingredients to watch for? Guest guest
- You can find the different names on a cosmetic website, but I thought this was interesting--just skim it and you can see the different names and uses: Cyclomethicones evaporate quickly after helping to carry oils into the top layer of epidermis. From there, they may be absorbed by the skin. Cyclomethicones perform a similar function in hair care products by helping nutrients enter the hair shaft. Due to these properties, they are used as base fluids in a wide array of cosmetic products such as antiperspirants, deodorants, hair sprays, cleansing creams, skin creams, lotions and stick products, bath oils, suntan and shaving product, make-up and nail polishes Clearco Cyclo-2245 imparts a soft-silky feel to the skin. Synonyms: cyclopentasiloxane, volatile poydimethylcyclosiloxane, CAS 541-02-6, CAS# 541-02-6, low surface tension silicone, volatile silicone, cyclomethicone, D5 silicone, Dow Corning 245 fluid, DC 245 fluid, 245 silicone, skin cream silicone, antiperspirant silicone, suntan lotion silicone, silicone for skin, skincare silicone, bodycare silicone, bath oil silicone, GE 1202, GE SF1202 cyclopentasiloxane, D5 Cyclopentasiloxane, D5 Decamethylcyclo Pentasiloxane decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, D4 silicone, polydimethylcyclosiloxane, cyclohexasiloxane, cyclotetrasiloxane, cyclotetrasiloxane (d4), volatile silicone, volatile silicone fluid, Dow Corning 345 fluid, Dow 345, Dow Corning 345 cyclomethicone, DC 345, Dc 345 cyclomethicone, DC Cyclopentasiloxane and Cyclohexasiloxane, cosmetic grade silicone, beauty care silicone, dodecamethyl cyclohexasiloxane, GE SF 1258, GE SF1258 Cyclopentasiloxane and Cyclohexasiloxane, D6 Silicone, D5/D6 Blend Use: Clearco Cyclo-1400 is a blend of cyclomethicone and dimethiconol. It consists of high viscosity dimethiconol in cyclomethicone (Tetramer). The fluid blend provides soft feel, spreadability and substantivity. Cyclomethicone evaporates readily without a residue or cooling sensation. It can be readily emulsified or combined with volatile silicone, mineral oil and cosmetic esters to provide a delivery vehicle for active ingredients such as sun screens, skin care products, hair conditioners, facial make-up…………..it is particularly useful as a hair conditioner in preventing split ends -- In , " Cherie " <cheriesut@y...> wrote: > > Kathy > Thanks for the info.
