Guest guest
I think tomorrow I will give Dr Feng a buzz and find out first hand about this because it is kind of bugging me now. In all my years involved in this I have never heard that Saline implants can cause this esp from the weight. It just sounds so strange to me and I want to know the whole story! So when I get a chance tomorrow during my lunch break or something I will find out and let you all know what Dr.Feng has to say about it ok? goodnight girls! Guest guest
Definately look into getting corrective surgery done, if it is making you unhappy that you cant wear what you want to. I had scoliosis with a 49 degree curve which was only border line for surgery so my surgeon done it for cosmetic reasons and although my back is now straight and i can finally wear tight tops that i have always wanted to, my chest still concaves in, i really hate it but he never said to me that he could do anything about it. I had my scoliosis surgery in march this year and it is a really painful and trumatic surgery and im still in some pain now but i havent exactly been resting so its probably my fault im still in pain, but anyway dont go through life wishing you could get it sorted, push them to get it sorted, from Emma
Guest guest
Thanks for advice, We live in California, LA. I was wondering if the surgeons will do the chest wall surgery or not. What I hear is that they correct the spine. Thanks, Suzanna Patti <pattijohnson@...> wrote: Suzanna, Scoliosis surgery should never be done by someone who doesn't perform that type of surgery all the time. It needs to be done by a specialist. There are doctors who do nothing but spinal deformity surgery. If you tell us where you live, there is probably someone on this list who has a referral name for you. I am 66 years old and had my surgery last October. It involved a fusion of 15 vertebrae and was a very big deal. But because I had a fabulously well qualified surgeon, today I have no pain and am walking and hiking again. The longer you wait for surgery, the more difficult your recovery will be. I had pulmonary embolisms after my surgery which nearly took my life. But the spinal fusion went perfectly as planned. When I was your age, the doctors always told me not to do it. They wouldn't recommend surgery for someone " my age " . Well, I learned that I was talking to the wrong doctors! Have you had x-rays and can you document with those x-rays the progression of the curve? I did not have x-rays in my possession and could only present my decreasing height...I went from 5'5 " to 5'2 1/2 " . My Cobb angle was 96 degrees. Because of my age and the many years that I did nothing, my spine could not be repaired completely. But I am now stable at 59 degrees after surgery, with titanium rods, and other fixtures to hold me in place. I am now 5'4 " tall !! I am not sorry that I had surgery, although I will admit that it was difficult in the beginning. I am just thankful that I can now stand tall. My friends say that I am a " walking miracle. " Good luck to you in finding the right doctor to give you good advice and a prognosis about your future. Patti Chest wall deformity Hi,everyone!! I am 43 years old. I discovered I had scoliosis(it is a very light curvature). But looks I had that when I was a teen and carried heavy bags to school, leaning towards one side. Anyways, damage is done. But what bothers me most is the chest wall deformity, two bones of the chest are higher than the other side(right is higher) and gives the impression of the hump. It bothers me a lot and I cannot wear dresses that are open in that area. Has someone had similar problem, I want to do surgery, but I don't know if that a job of a plastic surgeon or orthopedic surgeon. I saw one doctor, he said this has been there for a while, so his reaction was no. I really need this fixed. Any suggestions? Thanks, Suzanna
