Guest guest Posted January 31, 2009 Report Share Posted January 31, 2009 hello suzie and cathy welcome to the group, and iam going through the samething with my husband as your brother. well the fluid kept building up on my husband and they put a shunt in for him. but the more latutose he drinks the better it will do. it will get all the amonia off of his brain. you cannot over dose on that. so i give my husband 2 tablespoons every 2 hours and also 2 softners to help him go to the bathroom evryday. the more that they poop the better it is. also no salt at all. because that will make them swell really quick. but my husband use to have to get fluid drain off of him twicw a week now with the shunt in him he has not had to get drain. i can't believe his wife walk away. its really hard on me at times but i could never walk out the door i love him to much. well i will keep you your sister and mother in my prayers. if you do get any cracker make sure everything is low sodium. linda Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
