That is the exact information I know also Melody. Since Im supposed

to be slowing down my loss, introducing diet soda became my way of

doing so. Now..if I begin to regain, you can bet you will know what

I will be changing!! So far, adding the diet soda only helped me

lose more LOL I think it has to do with adding the caffiene to my

diet. I should start on caffiene free.

HI Melody,

This is very interesting! Are you saying that the side effects of

aspartames re suppression of satiety signals don't apply to Splenda?

soda and weight regain

I'm typically not one to critique someone else's food/beverage

choices unless asked, so I hope none of you will see this as such.

But since the topic of sodas came up, I thought I'd weigh in with the

LITTLE that I know....

A physician at the OH Convention said that there are many studies

being done that show, at 5 years out from WLS, a connection between

drinking soda -- diet OR regular! -- and significant weight regain.

He didn't go into the details about why that might be, but here are

two factors I remember: a) with regular soda, the connection to

calories is obvious; and B) with aspertame, hunger/satiety signals

are supressed, so a person who consumes aspertame does tend to eat

more (Hurray for Splenda!). I don't know more than this, but it's

certainly worth considering whether drinking soda is worth the very

real possibility that it might somehow undo successful weight loss....

Being underweight and unhealthy is worse for my body than not

exercising above and beyond my job requirements and my house hold

duties. Im guessing that is his angle. The issue is of course,

calories are burned during exercise and right now he wants me to

work on balancing more my ins and outs. I will add exercise again

when I ahve time LOL or when my weight stabilizes more. Honestly Ive

been at the same weight a week now, I guess Im working it out

already.
