Hi everyone

sorry i havent posted for a few days but i have been reading your

messages every day.

i went to londan to see a surgeon on monday i was met off the train by

sue who i met through this support group she is absolutly lovely and

has helped me so much i cant thank her enough and i feel confidant and

sure that explanting surgery is the right thing to do thanks sue you

dont know how much you have helped me.the surgeon said he is neutral

to the

silicone controversy but did admit that the woman who see him for

explant all have the same symtoms and that there is a lot of

coincidnces.he knew the truth but will never admit it. so i am having

surgery on 6 october i wont pretend im not scared i cant wait to get

these out but im terrified of surgery and all the things that can go

wrong i feel very angry at the moment and just cant beleive they know

and yet they are still implanting women and telling us there harmless

unbelievable.

MK,

The only way you'll know if your insurance will pay is

to ask them . . . Surely they know how sick you are.

It's cheaper for them to pay for explant than for you

to stay sick. Some companies pay, some don't . . . Try

to get approval before explant. And, be persistent!

You may have to provide some information like that we

share here.

As for your drains . . . you might find your primary

care doc willing to remove them . . . Have him/her

talk to Dr. Feng.

Hugs,

Rogene

Always best to have your doctors send a letter of medical necessity

to the insurance company than to ask them yourself if they will pay.

I called my insurance company this afternoon and found out the

procedure is denied. Ironically when it was for explant only at

Mayo it was okay. It was written as necessity. Now they say that

the procedure is unnecessary because there is no reason for capsule

or enbloc procedure. My insurance is Mayo insurance. How nice is

that!!!!!

MK . . . Ask Dr. Feng if she will write a letter of

necessity for en bloc/total capsulectomy. . . I'm sure

she will! . . . Stand tough with the insurance

company. If they cover explant at all, you should be

able to make a case for them covering you. Especially

when Mayo won't remove them properly so you can get

well.

I think you'll win out . . . Just don't let the jerks

get you down!

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

Yes, there was someone here within the past few months who fought

the insurance company and got them to agree to pay - was it Kathy?

Shari fought them some time ago . . . but there was

someone else more recently. . . They can be pursuaded!

.. . . But one has to stay on them!

My question with Mayo is if the policy is ONLY for

care at Mayo? My brother and his wife have Kaiser . .

.. They can go outside only when everything else fails.

They never have had to - although they've come close.

Hugs,

Rogene
