Guest guest
Okay, I went to my consult with the doctor I am planning to have do my explanation. He said he does as many as needed, generally about five or six of them a year. Is this enough? I felt a little stupid after I asked him because I don't know what a good number is. I asked him about en bloc etc, he said he removes as much as he can. Also I remember he commented that I am not symptomatic so until he sees more he isn't concerned that I am infected at all. Is this all in line wiith what any of you would be okay hearing from a potential surgeon? Another thing: I will be having the breast lift at the same time, I haven't been given a cost yet, maybe tomorrow. If the removal is in the 6-7000 range, what additional amount might I expect for the lift, any idea? Thanks for whatever anyone knows. Guest guest
Charlotte, " removes as much as possible " are code words for " I won't commit to doing an en bloc procedure. . . or even a complete capsulectomy " . Perhaps, if he sees a problem once he opens, he might, but I wouldn't bet on it! Especially since you're not having symptoms. Do you have any contracture? Are you implants textured? The concern is not so much that YOU are infected, but that the implants are contaminated. The en bloc procedure is to avoid spilling contaminated contents into your chest. If they're not contaminated, it probably wouldn't hurt . . . but there's a risk. Five or six a year isn't many . . . Is this a doctor on our list? If so, we need to remove him. Price wise, someone else will have to answer. I don't know. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
I have to say that I would run away from this doctor and find one on our list that knows how to properly remove implants. 5-6 sets a year removal is a very small number. Our experts remove 40-50 sets a month, often. And they would never say they would try to get it all, that is a cop-out. That is what my doctor did and I almost died from what he left in my chest. Where are you? We may be able to find a great doctor for you. Lynda At 08:03 PM 10/11/2005, you wrote: >Okay, I went to my consult with the doctor I am planning to have do my >explanation. Guest guest
I'm in northern Illinios, a northern suburb of Chicago. I see good things about this Dr. Feng in Cleveland, I wonder how I might do that. I need to research this to see what my options are. So I want someone who has done several of the explants MONTHLy, right? Thanks for the input. Charlotte
Guest guest
No, he's not on your list. No one could recommend in the Chicago area. The one I found is the only who actually advertises removal on his web site. As I just wrote, I am going to look into the feasibility of traveling to Ohio to this Dr. Feng who has been mentioned favorably. Either that or head out to CA, my kids live out there, i could stay with one of them...but they don't actually know I have implants. Oh well...time to come out of the closet I guess. Guest guest
If you can get to Dr Feng by all means go for it. she is worth the extra dollars as she will not only do a great explant but her lifts are the best I have seen. She did a beautiful job on me and almost 6 years later I look fabulous still, not to mention my heatlh is great. I have not felt better in yers and now at 41 I am in even bettr shape than when I was before implants. I think you would be thrilled with the care you recieve there and the compassion of her staff. Not only that but it is a beautiful town and much to do there when your bored and looking to kill a few days I went to the NFL and Rock N Roll hall of fame and it was so much fun! Good luck and please do not hesitate to write me Carroe n , Charlotte or Joe Hunt <chiandjoe@s...> wrote: > > No, he's not on your list. No one could recommend in the Chicago area. Guest guest
, Please. There are several great doctors, let's not get on this bandwagon again. We do not PUSH women to any specific doctor, we have a list and there are a number of them that we would trust implicitly. Guest guest
I don't recomend other Dr's that I don't know and have not gone to. I feel it is my right to recomend the Dr that I had surgery with and I would never recomend another Dr that I don't know. It would be misleading. There may be a million wonderful surgeons but I can't speak of their work. I will leave that up to their patients and I really don't feel comfortable recomending someone just because they are on a list. How do I know they are good if I have never been to them????? I am not saying that others are good or bad I just don't know. In , Lynda <coss@p...> wrote: > > , > Please. There are several great doctors, let's not get on this bandwagon > again. Guest guest
Charlotte, I don't know how many explants Dr. Feng does . . . I'm sure she does a huge number though. Considerably more than several a month. You could ask how many she does. You can be confident she will do the best job possible for you. If you schedule explant with her, you can relax. Guest guest
I had my explant with Dr. Feng in June and I believe someone said that at that point she had done several thousand of them. I have no regrets! > > > I'm in northern Illinios, a northern suburb of > > Chicago. I see good things about this Dr. Feng in > > Cleveland, I wonder how I might do that. Guest guest
When I contacted her office initially to ask questions, one of her staff said she had done several thousand explants. She's performing my explantation on 11/7, and I feel like I'm in good hands. I'm bringing a picture along of how I looked pre-BA, just so she can see what I looked like before. I'm traveling there from NJ, about 7 hours. I figure it's a bit of an inconvenience to travel for my surgery, but if I want to do it right and do it once, then I think I'm making the right decision.
