If people want to fight, well that is their decision, but DO NOT hurt one of my officers in the process. With that said, yes, there is a lot of unnecessary work in our field, but there are also things that officers just don't know or understand about 'how' we have to do our job. And boy does that cause extra stress ! We have at our agency, a Quality Improvement Committee (QI). At our last meeting, this was that topic of discussion. Make a long story short, we have decided to volunteer to go to the 5 precincts, covering all shifts if possible, and go over some of those peeves with them. For example: officers have MDT's in their cars and they can show themselves enroute, onscene, in service. When they say they are inservice we expect that they would already have hit that button. Cause what happens is we will dispatch them immediately to another call, they get back to their car, clear themselves from what they think is the first call, but they have now cleared them self from the new one. (make sense?). Or coming off a traffic stop, clearing it, and saying they are on another one again at the same location? Well, maybe its easier if the officer would just say his location again. If its really busy, there might not be sufficient time to look up his last location and put him back out without missing traffic? Its those kind of little things that they just need explaining. Then we ALL will be less stressed and get along better. I'm sure there are things that they would like to address, and this will give us a chance to do it. We all complain about these things and nobody ever does anything about it. This is our chance to DO something and make a difference. As Behr said in his book, its not the huge incidents that stress us out, but the little things. ----just a thought---- Toni Wyman, (CTO)...Gwinnett County Police, GA ( just N of HotLanta) 770 Hi Hope Rd, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 (These are only my opinions, not my agency's, after all they are the government and they have opinions of their own) For liability reasons my posts and opinions are to be reprinted with my permission only Email to: E911gal136@...
