Canadian court approves multi-firm breast implant

class action settlement

VANCOUVER, Canada (AFP) - The British Columbia Supreme

Court approved the settlement of a class action

lawsuit for Canadian women who had faulty silicone gel

breast implants, lawyers announced.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Baxter Healthcare and 3M

agreed to pay Canadian women who received implants,

except those who reside in Ontario and Quebec

provinces, up to 4.3 million dollars (3.6 million US

dollars) plus legal costs.

The defendants were not required to admit liability.

The deadline for opting in or out of the settlement is

December 2.
