Hello,

It has been a while, how's everyone doing? My surgery is scheduled

for November 7th and I am very frightened and anxious. I finally have

been diagnosed with atypical fibromyalgia secondary to silicone

exposure. I found a neurologist at a pain clinic who is trying to help

me with pain, and was brave enough to write a letter to the insurance

company recommending explantation (he is the only doc that would!).

Still don't know yet if the insurance company will cover the surgery

until next week. I called Dr. Blais' office and the answering machine

said he has a back log of calls; is there any other place to send the

implants for testing? And what is the average fee? If you could give

me any numbers or addresses I would greatly appreciate it. I have been

feeling so much doubt about whether I'll ever get better, but I just

pop on the website and read about women just like me, which is very

inspiring.

You can get better! Keep faith. The many many women here that have

gotten significantly better is a testament to that. That is great

that you got your doctor to write the insurance company. I hope

that is enough to get your explant paid for! I just got mine out

and paid for it myself as I couldn't even get a doctor to say that

my symptoms were anymore than stress and fms. I also never had my

implants tested, although I sometimes wish I had. I don't know who

else is doing testing than Dr. Blais. Are you saying that he will

be too busy to take you as a client? Hopefully that isn't the

case. Please don't be scared of the surgery. Most women find the

explant to be easier than the implant surgery. Mine was a piece of

cake! And I started seeing some improvements right away. Other

symptoms took longer to go away or lessen in frequency and

severity. Everyone is different, but most people respond to a

combination of eating healthy and cleansing and detoxing the body.

However, the most important step is getting those implants out of

your body!

Hi Carol,

Stay positive and hopeful! You have many reasons to believe that

you can get better, and just staying with us for inspiration will be

helpful to you. So many of us have been in your shoes already, and

we have come out the other side doing well. It just takes a long

time to heal, so patience will be a virtue on this journey.

I am really happy to hear that you have found a doctor who is

standing with you on the silicone issue. That is fantastic.

Insurance may take awhile to come around, but if you appeal often

enough and press your case, they may ante up sooner or later. I

believe Shari was successful in getting reimbursed for her surgery

costs, but she did have to dish out the dough beforehand.

Dr. Blais is pretty much the best out there when it comes to

analyzing failed breast implants. I am not sure there are many

other pathologists who do the analysis with such completeness.

However, you may opt to forego the pathology report if you are not

pursuing litigation. The one thing his report may help with is in

determining what type of infection you are dealing with, whether

fungal or mycobacteria or whatever. That may be important, but on

the other hand, you can do natural therapies that attack on all

fronts, so your bases are covered. I pretty much assumed that I was

dealing with candida, parasites, and other pathogens and tried a

shotgun approach. Over time I have healed greatly, and it didn't

cost me an arm and a leg doing it this way. It did take long though!

I am so glad you found a good Dr that would do that for you. I know

the fee's can range around a 100 to more for his reports and it

depends on which one you want. I wish I could be more helpful. I never

did actually buy the report because it did not seem that important to

me. I figured I could always buy it later if I needed it. I got better

and felt it wasn't worth the money. However by all means look into it.
