Guest guest
Tina, I still have my implants (getting them out November 4th) but I thought I'd tell you a little about my experience--My breasts were not unevenly sized, nor were they exceptionally small (about a B cup), but they just lacked tone, after breastfeeding three children. And I thought it would be "fun" to have larger breats. I have a tiny waist and ample hips, so I was looking forward to being "proportional." I first had saline implants put in, 350 cc. One of them was placed improperly and much too high, and they were both very ripply. Definitely fake-looking. I had another surgery and went a little larger, 400 cc. Still the placement was not right, and the rippling was worse! The PS told me, "Hey, they look great when you wear a bra." If I wanted to look great in a bra I could have worn a padded bra! Finally, I went for silicone, 500 cc, with another PS. He told me they would look and feel much more natural, which they did. My body has a perfect "hourglass" shape, and clothes fit fabulously. But... they never feel right. They feel like heavy globs of plastic. I hate having them touched (so not much fun for anyone else, either). Other than better fit in clothes, I have not enjoyed them at all (but then again, how could I? I've been so sick!). Just a few weeks after my last surgery(about a year ago), I woke up with terrible vertigo. Things went downhill rapidly from there. My symptoms are so similiar to many women in this group--extreme muscle and joint aches, extreme fatigue, sleep disorder, skin problems, hair loss, dizziness, cognitive disfunction, digestive problems, TMJ disorder, etc., etc. I was always a very healthy person, who ate a good diet, exercised, etc. Now I am a mess. I have been unable to work, had to quit my college faculty position, and I have to be really careful of how much activity I do in a day or I just fall apart. I feel like I am 1000 years old, though I am 42. There are those lucky women who don't get sick, but often it is just that their illness develops gradually over time and they don't make the connection right away. Funny, I've been sick for a whole year and only just figured it out a few months ago. I believed the propaganda, that breast implnats are totally safe. I wanted to believe it. Now I am forced to believe the truth. I know it's a hard call. It's easy to go along with what I call "magical thinking," and just figure it won't happen to you, you won't get sick. Maybe you won't. But if you do, you are going to REALLY regret it. It's just not worth it. I know that there is a procedure where fat is taken from another part of your body and grafted into your breast. I think Dr. Feng does that one. I've read that it's more complicated and more expensive than implant surgery(if you aren't counting all the possible complications later from implants) but if you are doing only one breast, maybe it would be financially feasible. Also, have you tried herbal breast creams? I know they have a variable result, but some women I know have had really good results. My friend, who was an A cup, is now a C, from herbs alone. You can look at www.greenbush.net for reasonable prices. Maybe you could get enough of a result on the one A-cup breast to make you feel more satisfied with your breasts. Your health is such a gift. Good luck! Melinda
