Thyroid scores to some docs are fine but not to others who also look at symptoms. Madeleen I wonder if that relates back to no E? Anyone suffer with this problem?Lana What are the most popular cars? Guest guest
I went to Dr. Redmond for 2 yrs in NY and was on an anti androgen due to PCOS. I was also losing my hair even on the thyroid meds. His book is very informative. I decided to go off the anti androgens and discontinue progesterone. I now use pretty much only thyroid and estrogen. My hair is finally growing back I have a whole bunch in front that is an inch long(sticks straight up). The reason I went off the other med is that I found that it blocked not only testosterone but also estrogen. My experience with my body tells me that I either can no longer handle the P or that the P goes down a very androgenic pathway for me and that I need higher amount of E. The issue right now is balancing the thyroid and estrogen and concern over not bleeding on a regular basis. Guest guest
I looked at my test scores and the copy that my Dr. gave me is so faint that I can't read the numbers, but she said it was at the very low end of the range. The Endocrinologist that I saw 2 days ago said that my thyroid was fine. I asked him if maybe the low end isn't good for, "ME" -personally, and he said that it was fine, yet my symptoms seem to say otherwise...I am going to ask him if he would give me a trial of Armour, like a "mirco-dot" dose and see if that helps...worth a try. He is having my blood tested for auto-immune problems to which they probably won't find a thing! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/causes-of-hypo/ this is a great site full of interesting info. from thyroid gals......I too am new in the thyroid crowd, and they have been working at this for awhile, nice to read some helpful hints. Also Dr. Dommise has new take on the TSH and free T3 free T4 levels...knowledge IS power . Good luck, http://www.johndommissemd.com/hypothyroidism.html
Guest guest
that's really interesting...... which antiandrogen were you on? I've been doing aldactone for 20 years plus a bcp and pretty much can't do without it. --- bigbird3099 wrote: > I went to Dr. Redmond for 2 yrs in NY and was on an > anti androgen due > to PCOS. Guest guest
Oh honey. Hair loss is a bitch ain't it? Unfortunately my wonderful endo doc was in the Boston area, but even more unfortunately she was murdered by her boyfriend three years ago. I was put on aldactone (anti-androgen) and a different bcp (ovcon 35) twenty years ago. The burning scalp thing is called dysesthesia and Dr. Redmond's book says that this is likely due to estrogen deficiency versus the kind of problems I've had all my life (testosterone sensitivity). I'd run out and get some E if I were you. Wish I could be of more help........... Let me know how it goes Carroll --- Lana wrote: > Carroll, > > Please, please, tell me what kind of tmt. you were > put on and is this > dr. in CA by any chance? He is having my blood tested for auto-immune problems to which they probably won't find a thing! Why oh why can't the medical community figure out that for many people "low-end" isn't acceptable. Not every body is the same!!! Isn't it interesting that women get into their 40's and all seem to have the same symptoms-give or take a few...doesn't that set bells and alarms off? To add insult to injury, we are ignore or shuffled off to other md.s who don't want to deal with us. This is so real and needs to be taken seriously!!!!! BTW: The "endo" wants to put me on low doses of E and says I don't need P since I have periods still and he thinks I am P sensitive (I think he is referring to the DHT from the P) The dr.s always blame DHT for the female pattern hair loss-sheesh, where would they be without "DHT and Alepecia" their favorite catch-all phrases!!! Guest guest
that is the very first time I have ever heard of a Dr. saying that someone may be P sensitive. I was also in the normal but low range when I was first diagnosed with thyroid issues but the Dr did the antibody tests to confirm that I had Hashimoto's. My hair falls out w/the P and right now that is even small amounts. Guest guest
I was on spiro (aldactone) and was also on BC but I started flashing at 40 on the BC. When I was on the spiro I needed to take large amounts of E and would also take P. I started to do some research on pub med and found a study comparing spiro to Tamoxifen. So here I was on Spiro and basically canceling out my Test and my E. During the time I took the P I would lose more hair. So I stopped the spiro and the P and things are much better(no more hair loss and my acne is much better) I just think that some people are very E sensitive or P sensitive or T sensitive. I know I am very T and P sensitive. I have a friend that is on the lowest dose E patch after a hyster and is feeling great (sleeps well, good E effects)I take about 15 times more E than she does and sometimes that is not enough. She has no thyroid issues though. Maybe that plays into things also. Guest guest
Carroll here again..... the message below sounds like good advice. YOu can't really go by me anyway....I'm not into menopause yet. Do you mind if I ask how old you are? Screw those doctors who say there is nothing you can do. YOu get your e up and I'll betcha fifty bucks this will reverse itself. Avodart is a good med to try also because it will block the DHT and the warnings about never prescribing to women is because of birth defects -- making male fetuses femaleish or something. If you don't plan on a baby, a doctor should be able to give it to you. Or buy it bootleg on the internet. If I could afford it, I'd be on it too. In the meantime, Toppik is a good scalp cover. You will be amazed by it and not feel so self conscious going out in public. Best regards......... --- bigbird3099 wrote: > Lana, > I did not use tamoxifen the study I talked about > compared aldactone > to Tamoxifen. Guest guest
Carroll, I am 45 yrs. of age...(feeling like 80!!!) I am not in menopause either-perimeno, yes-very. And, I definitely don't plan on having any more kids at my age. What is Toppik? I have never heard of it. Where do you find it? I get my blood tests back on Mon. and see my GYN the following week- which will seem like an eternity. She will then give me an Rx for more E, not WP, but through WIP. I never thought I would be counting down days til I got my E! Thanks, Lana > > > > > > > > I was on spiro (aldactone) and was also on BC > > but I started > > > flashing > > > > at 40 on the BC.
