adrenal recovery

Does anyone know if / how it is possible to recover your adrenals

without taking cortef or supplementing cortisol? Presumably it takes

lots of bed rest and NO stress whatsoever, which is completely

impractical for pretty much all of us. I have just read something else

about long-term cortisol use, and I am apprehensive about it, as I find

anticipating my cortisol requirements pretty tricky. I also hate the

weight increase - will this go when I stop taking isocort? Anyone got

any positive experiences to tell about weaning off hydrocortisone?

Keep in mind MOST the stories about ling term cortisol use are about

pharmacological doses.. like 50MG a day and UP! I will not tell you a

story about weaning off but I will tell you when I went from 20MG a day

to 30MG a day I dropped 20 pounds and all of it was from my belly! I

have now been at this dose for about 3 months and am still feeling fine

with no signs of weakness or weight gain. I am not in better shape

physically than I was before taking this, but I am certainly no worse. I

suspect your weight increase had more to do with the thyroid feedback

loop than adrenal meds.
