Guest guest
I happened to have an appt. with my pain Dr. yesterday and went I got there they said that he is also a family Dr. who deals with vaginal problems. I had already been in the waitng room for 1 hr. when a pharm.rep. came in and the Dr. came to the front desk to talk with her. She brought him 2 big bags of cookies, some free show tickets (here in Las Vegas-that is a big deal) and then stood there for 25 min. trying to talk him into ordering more drugs from her. I started pacing back and forth because I was so itchy and I couldn't sit still. I could never work for a Drug Co. after everything that I have learned about them. After 2 hrs. of waiting, he finally saw me. I had to talk him into doing a culture (this is why I like bringing Patty with me to the Dr.-she always knows how to talk to them, I'm too wimpy) All her would give me was 3 days of Diflucin and wouldn't prescribe any cream for the outside (which is really red and burning) I couldn't believe it. Isn't there just a general soothing cream that he could have given me? He looked at me like I was trying to get Vicodin or something. I left there crying, which is not uncommon for me when leaving a Dr.s office. I just feel so frustrated trying to depend of someone else to help me. The Dr.s that I have seen have been very cold. I admire the girls on this group so much that have worked to get their bodies feeling better using detox. I was telling Patty yesterday that when I am feeling good, I should be setting stuff up for detoxing instead of going to the park with my 3 yr. old or the mall. Thanks so much for all your advice-I'm so lucky to have you! Guest guest
Daryl, go to the store and get some plain yogurt with active cultures. Then dip your hand into it and rub it all over your itchy places. It will immediately give you the external relief you need. besides, it's CHEAP! What I do is put a glob of it on and then quickly pull up panties with a small pad in them to keep the yogurt in place. Good Luck!
Guest guest
Daryl, I'm terribly sorry that Monistat make things worse! Hopefully the culture will give the doctor some direction. . . When you talk to him, would you ask him why he thought that three days of Diflucan would take care of your problem? . . . I wonder why doctors are so reluctant to prescribe antifungals! Guest guest
Hi Rogene, Diflucan is hard on the liver but most MD’s don’t even think about that. Most gynecologists think one Diflucan will “cure” a yeast infection. They don’t seem to realize that the problem is systemic and not only a “female” problem. Guest guest
Kenda, I know prescription antifungals are hard on the liver, but if one has a problem, they have a problem. IMHO, a doctor should do some testing, recommend an antifungal diet, and monitor liver enzymes while treating a patient for yeast problems. Sometimes I think they want to treat the symptoms just enough to make you think they help you, but to guarantee you are back soon! $$$$$$ I've often wondered how differently doctors practice medicine when they are paid a flat fee for each patient annually. Do they go for a cure, rather than bury the symptoms? Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Hi Rogene, Interesting concept, you know they wouldn’t want to see you back! I’m sure they’d never have the time to schedule you back in. My gyn doesn’t seem to get the whole body/vaginal yeast connection. I get my supply from Dr. Leu when I have the yeasties. Guest guest
I would like to see doctors TEST for candida. There are tests for it. Most doctors won't and i have no idea why. THey seem not to believe in systemic candidiasis (sp?) which is nuts. Those of us with immune problems DO have systemic fungus. > > Kenda, > > I know prescription antifungals are hard on the liver, > but if one has a problem, they have a problem.
