Guest guest
Did you end up sponging, or ragging the 2nd color? It sounds gorgeous! You should send me some pictures (off-line) so I can see how it looks! Jen B. > Hi Jen, wanted to give you an update on the painting I was doing - thanks to your advice it turned out great! Really looks like a garden wall in Tuscany, waking up with the birds singing and the roses outside the window and all is fantastic. Thanks for your ideas! > > R. > >
Guest guest
It was totally cool. I left the base coat that was up, which was a nice yellow but in a matte formula. Then I found a paint store that sold paint mistakes for about $2 a can and picked up two different pinks and a sepia tone and glaze to mix into the paints. I also purchased a bottle of gold - those paints that are meant to be used as accents - and added it to each of the paints, but the most went into the sepia . I started out by applying the three different paints and then using a soft brush to blend the colours, but half way through the project I was becoming frustrated. It looked good but the paint kept thickening and it just wasn't as soft as I wanted... so I grabbed a wet sponge, added some water to the paints and started treating them like water colours and did more of a wash - loved it at that point. Turns out that the texture was very matte, which bothered me in the beginning, but the sheen from the gold was subtle and made of for the lack of reflection from the finish. Next is the ceiling - going to do that in a very pale blue with a bit of pink and white, but in a more reflective finish. I can't wait to send you pictures, but have to finish the window treatment, that won't happen until next week because I have another huge exam on Thursday for which I have to study. Thank you so much for your inspiration, if you hadn't talked about doing your daughter's room I would never have gotten around to doing mine! R. Guest guest
Wow!! It sounds absolutely gorgeous!! I can't wait to see pics of the finished project. ) I should send you pics of my daughter's room too. It looks great with the newly painted furniture, and the gauzy ceiling canopy (complete with white feather lights strung along the underneath of the canopy). Plus we got a white duvet cover and pink furry pillows and throw for the bed. It is very Pottery Barn Teen. LOL Jen B. > It was totally cool.
