Guest guest
I had breast cancer 7 years ago and had reconstructive surgery. A saline breast implant was put in my reconstructed breast, along with one on the other side (my good breast) in order to " match " . After about 3 years, my left side deflated, and a new implant was put in. About 3 MONTHS later, the other side deflated, and a new saline implant was put in there. I thought that it was just a fluke, but now my left side has deflated AGAIN! When it happened the last time, I was convinced that the implants were directly related to health problems I had been having. Nobody in the medical profession around here (Tallahassee) believed me. Now I believe that at least for me, these implants are a health risk. I'm thinking that I want them both out NOW. I imagine that it will be very difficult to find a surgeon to do this, and make it all look somewhat ok again. I'll probably opt to have the breast tissue removed from my right breast too. So, it will end up looking like a double mastectomy (which I probably should have done in the first place). Where do I find a great surgeon that won't think I'm crazy and will do a good job? Has anybody been through this, and what do I need to know?
Guest guest
I'm so sorry you're having problems, especially after all the problems you've already had! We can recommend some excellent doctors . . . Dr. Kolb in Alanta, GA. and Dr. Feng in Cleveland, OH. . . . then there's Dr. Huang in Denver. They can make you look as good as possible! The doctors we recommend remove thousands of implants! They definitely know the health problems implants can cause. One of my friends opted to have her unaffected breast removed so she would feel " balanced " . She's been relieved not to worry about getting breast cancer and not at all selfconscious about being flat! Something to study up on while deciding what to do, is to learn everything you can about Candida/fungus/yeast. I recommend " The Yeast Connection " . For whatever reason, it seems as though most women who have had implants have a problem. It can be tough to get under control - probably impossible before your implants are removed. However, you can get a handle on it now. We have a lot of detox programs we can recommend. We're always looking for more! You'll find them in the archive files. Guest guest
I live in Boca Raton, in South Florida. I had double-lumen implants (Saline & Silicone) removed by Dr. Kolb. There are some surgeons in Florida who are reputedly good, but I have not had experience with them. The closest to your area that I have heard of is in Orlando. Many plastic surgeons will deny that implants cause any problems -- it is their business! I hate to sound so cynical, but that is the only reason I can imagine for their denial. More and more doctors that work with us do know that implants can and do cause health problems. Given a choice between health and breasts, I'd pick health any day. --- In , " beachroscoeblue " <beachroscoeblue@y...> wrote: > I had breast cancer 7 years ago and had reconstructive surgery. Guest guest
Dr. Rotatori in Winter Park is supposed to remove implants properly. Guest guest
Thanks, Lynda. That is who I was thinking of - Winter Park is near Orlando, I believe. My friend Rosie had Dr. Rotatori and was pleased with his work. -- In , Lynda <coss@p...> wrote: > Dr. Rotatori in Winter Park is supposed to remove implants properly. > > Lynda > > > At 09:02 PM 9/30/2005, you wrote: > >I live in Boca Raton, in South Florida. Guest guest
Hi there, I am so sorry to hear of all of the trials and tribulations you have endured through your cancer and implant experiences. Cancer is bad enough...those implant deflations just add insult to injury! It is so tragic that women have to try to overcome the dangers of implants after valiantly fighting a serious disease such as cancer. I wish that the truth about implant dangers were much more exposed and seriously discussed by medical professionals with their patients. These illnesses are nothing to play around with. We do have some excellent Florida doctors that will be able to take care of you. They are listed in our files section under our doctor list. I am sure that our other members have piped up by now since I am responding to this so late, so I hope that you have found some answers that will lead you to the right path. We do wish you health...let us know how you are coming along. Hugs, Patty > I had breast cancer 7 years ago and had reconstructive surgery.
