When I was on estrogen last year my hair was lovely. I grew back lots of it and it got soft and curly. When I went off the hormones I started losing again...just like you're describing. Interestingly I'm using iodine right now (only 2 drops of lugols/day) and my shedding has slowed plus my curl increased. Must be thyroid as well as E causing the shedding. Got an appointment with a new doctor tommorrow and I'm going back on hormones ...Yeah not a minute too soon. I've been experimenting with supplements/ diet and went off HRT to see what happened. Way over it t now...give me back my E! BYe Lynn
Guest guest
It wasn't until my E went low the hair went too. Pam, I know E will help, but low thyroid can be a problem too. I think when our E drops too low it somehow taxes our thyroids.......just my theory, LOL..... I use hair shedding as a low E sign for me. IF I get enough E back in me, it will stop within the next day or so. ))) My body is hypersensitive,
Guest guest
I know WITHOUT a doubt this is all hormonal because I was fine prior to the delivery of my daughter. However, before this, I thought women had babies then after a few months life resumed the same-not the case for me by far. Pam, ck out your thyroid......it really could be a key:)))))))

How long approximately did it take your hair to stop falling after starting BHRT? Do you think 3 months is too soon for it to be over? I too have thyroid problems but I don't think it is causing my hairloss. I had hypo for about 13 years and never any severe hairloss. It wasn't until my E went low the hair went too. Hope your new doc works out! Pam >
Guest guest
Hi Pam, Hair loss has been a BIG issue with me! Me E dropped severely and my hair fell out in the worse way...some Dr.s tell me it is hormonal hair loss, some say it is androgenous hair loss (bad response to DHT and genetic). I was on SP before the E and noticed a sig. reduction w/ hair loss . Now, after being on E for 2 full months I feel like my hair has more "fluff" at the sclap and isn't as dry. Not seeing any new hairs and what I got in a few months ago is so miniturized from DHT response. My eyes burn during the P cycle and I do tend to lose some lashes then-same w/pubic hair. Again, this was worse before the SP addition to my suppliments. I am obviously very sensitive to the "by-products" of progestrone. My E intake is up to 2.5 mgs. daily (I am 45 w/uterus still). My E is a bit higher since I use SP and I know that it can block some of the E. Soon I have to start adding P, per my Dr., and I dread this because I fear increase in hair loss. *I know what you mean about finding your hair everywhere...I used to just cry every day and everytime I found hair lying around. I still cry about it but maybe once every 2 wks-I am learning to accept it and deal with it...slowly...such an emotional issue! Other than the hair loss issues, the E has made such a remarkably positive difference in my life...and talk about sleep-I go into a coma now after not sleeping for about 4 years! LOL!!! Just remember that while our bodies are made the same, they don't respond the same and what takes one person 2-3 mos. may take the next one more or less time, more or less doses etc.. I have learned that I have to be very patient with this one! My Dr. said it could be a year before I see significant changes in hair if any at all. It is up to my follicles which are being sufficated by DHT-my understanding, anyhow. I hope that you find the answers that you need! Lana >> Hi ladies. My hair was always good until the E dropped after my baby. That is wild that your hair stops shedding immediately. My loss has came down alot but I am still losing in the 100's when shampooing. I don't have any other symptoms of low E but the burn. eyes-they have all went away so I don't think my E is low. Last check is was 237 and I have upped the E since then. My doctor didn't want me to even use .2 patches because my E wasn't abnormally low. I know she would never raise it. I would be scared to with all the bleeding that's going on with everyone. Do you shed alot of your new hairs on E? Thanks so much. Pam >
Guest guest
My hair, which was doing great due to my herbal, diet and supplement programs I had been using since menopause, exactly two years ago, so I didn't have problems with it. I started to get them stopped the problems with my routines. But after completing almost three months on the Wiley protocol, adjusted for my specific needs of course, my hair has turned into something I had forgotten about, since I haven't seen it like this since I was in my teens and 20s. It is very long now, too, so it is even easier to see the wonderful results from the hormones. I had stopped losing excess hair and it was full and pretty before the Wiley program, but now it is amazing! I am delighted. ERT and hair Hi ladies. I would like to know anyones' experiences with estrogen and how it effected the hair. I have been taking it for 3 months (increased my dose to .2 patches a month ago). On one hormone site I read (hormone diva subscription site) it was suggested adding a dab of estrogen to shampoos. I've also done that. Don't really know that it made a bit of difference but hey why not! Lynn

It must be nothing short of amazing to have your health and hair back. So I am understanding that the Wiley Program has been great for some and not for others. Just like all other HRT regimens I suppose So happy for you. Pam > > > ERT and hair > > > Hi ladies. I would like to know anyones' experiences with estrogen and > how it effected the hair. This makes 3 months on E, 1 month on .2 though and I am seeing some reduction. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks, Pam >
