Guest guest
I had my implants removed in April 2004. I am just recently starting to feel considerably better. Fibro alone is plenty- it can be debilitating. I understand your impatience to get back to your life. I was very active physically and mentally before I got sick. It is depressing. The best thing I can suggest is to recognize that you can get better, but it takes work...I also realize that it isn't easy, especially when you feel rotten. I am just starting on those things that I know I have to do -- like lose weight, diet, more exercise etc. > Hi, > > I'm a new member and have some questions. I've been reading through some of the posts and I guess I should be happy that I'm not as sick as some. I do have Fibro, rib pain, extreme fatigue, sleep disturbances and that god awful brain fog along with depression. > > I have improved greatly since explant but I'm wondering how the hell long does it actually take to get better? Guest guest
Thank you for your reply. Sorry to hear what you have been through but it sounds like you've pretty much kept a positive attitude about all of this. I have so many aches and pains and just recently started losing my hair a bit more than normal. I can't understand this as it has been a while since explant. I don't have the weight problems and I just tackled the yeast problem which was a MAJOR accomplishment. I've heard that alot of women that have the implants end of having weight problems due to them affecting their thryroid. Do you still have the terrible fatigue and have you experienced any hair loss? Oh, one other thing, when does the brain fog go away? Does it EVER??? Thanks in advance. DarleneMollyBloom54 <mollyb54@...> wrote: I had my implants removed in April 2004. Guest guest
Hi Darlene, You are so welcome. We all have been through a lot. I was sufficiently depressed to be hospitalized for it. It was horrible - I saw my health, my life just go up in smoke, as well as everything I had worked so hard to do. Thank God I am better now. And as far as the brain fog... There were whole conversations I couldn't remember, and it was embarrassing. I would lose things, forget everything if I didn't write it down... I deferred a bar exam (for law) for two years, because of my health. I knew I couldn't concentrate and remember enought to study for it. However, last April, I was feeling better. I did start studying. That was a year after explant. I took the exam in July, and I passed it!! In fact, I passed it 20 points above what was needed to pass, which is a very good score. Yes, my brain fog is clearing. I still have my moments, but not like I did. The biggest problem I have now is fatigue. I took the exam out of town (it is only given in one place in the state). When I came home, I just collapsed, for weeks. > > Hi, > > > > I'm a new member and have some questions. Hoping someone can answer them for me. > > > > I had my explant last year. Guest guest
Hi Darlene, I know I am really late in replying to your post (I'm trying to catch up on all the posts I missed over the weekend!), but I wanted to let you know that it took me quite awhile to get better. In fact, it took me about 4 years to get my health back. I know that sounds a bit depressing, but not everyone heals in the same way or at the same pace, so your experience may be a little quicker. At the same time, I wanted you to not stress over the fact that you've been explanted for about a year and not healing as quickly as you thought. I went through that too. I had my implants in my body for only a total of about 9 months, so I was under the impression that I would get better really fast. Wrong! I don't think it has as much to do with how long you've had implants in, but rather how affected your immune system has become. In some of us, the immune system gets really whacked out and damage occurs to a greater degree, hence it takes longer to recover. It is as variable as the length of time it takes each of us to become ill. Some women don't get sick for years; others right away. In any case, if you are focusing on detoxing and getting your body back into a state of health, you should continue to see improvements at a steady pace. I did and then hit a plateau, which I jump started again through a regular fasting program. Overall, I saw pretty gradual improvement until I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto's and once that was treated, I felt pretty much 100% back to normal. Be patient. I know how hard that is. I cried lots of tears, and will even admit to an anger fit directed at God once or twice because I wasn't healing fast enough. But I got over it and realized that He had blessed me in many great ways, and sure enough, in time my healing came and it has continued to the point that I live a totally, completely normal life once again. My big challenge came this summer when I went to India on a 2 week mission trip, and I came out of that unscathed and my health intact. I knew then that I was as good as new finally! You'll get there. Just be patient, be tenacious, and have faith. Being hopeful of the future goes a long way toward complete healing. Stay positive and good things will happen! Guest guest
Darlene, My brain fog was the last symptom to go away. It was dreadful. It sounds like you are in the same boat as I was. I did end up with thyroid problems, and yes, I have gained a few pounds. Not too many, but enough that I feel like I need to watch what I eat, which is so not fair because I used to be able to eat anything I wanted, at any time, and in any quantity and not gain weight! I want my old body back! Hair loss goes along with thyroid issues, so make sure you are not having a thyroid problem. Did I mention in my last letter that my Hashimoto's was not diagnosed until about 4 years post explant? I think these things can be brewing in our systems for a few years before finally making themselves known on blood tests. Patty > I had my implants removed in April 2004. Guest guest
Patty, Darlene, Hashimoto's was the first thing I was diagnosed with. My doctor said I had gained weight faster than anyone she had ever seen. ;-( I asked her if that explained the high ANA, and she said she thought there was something else wrong...that started trips to the neurologist, rheumatologist etc .... I just thought I was stressed, had bad carpel tunnel, and probably getting arthritis. Then my health took a nose dive... and I found out my implants were ruptured... I am still struggling with thyroid, balancing it...I need to find a doctor who can prescribe armour - my doctor prescribes it but said she doesn't know how to 'titrate' it. To be fair, life ain't fair. hmmm and we are all getting older. The metabolism isn't what it was when we were 25, with or without implants. I am resigned to having to change my eating. I am looking at it - or trying to look at it- as a positive, telling myself how much better I will feel. I KNOW I will feel better when I lose weight. I never have been anywhere close to this heavy. > > > Hi, > > > > > > I'm a new member and have some questions. Hoping someone can > answer them for me. > > > > > > I had my explant last year. Guest guest
I still have brain fog, and I still am extremely tired. My Hashimoto's was the first thing to be diagnosed - before I discovered my implants were ruptured. My doc is still having a hard time balancing my thyroid. I am taking Armour, but she says she doesn't know how to 'titrate' it. I need to find a doc on my insurance who does. > > > Hi, > > > > > > I'm a new member and have some questions.
