Hi Kenda,

Thank you for your response below. I had my liposuction done about

4 months ago. It was in the outer thighs and hips. I had a lot of

bruising and swelling the first 3-4 weeks but after that was fine.

About 6 weeks ago the burning, throbbing, aching started. It

continues to get worse. Every time I sit down and especially lay

down at night the pain deepens and worsens. I am guessing because

I am applying pressure from my weight to the areas done. I am really

scared because I read that this pain can be permanent due to nerve

damage from the canula. Of course the dr. never told me any of

this. Dumb me, for not researching better. I can't live with this

pain forever. It's awful. The dr. said he removed about 800 cc's

total so I guess about 400 from each leg.

Your ordeal sounds horrible! I can't believe the injection caused

tissue atrophy. What is wrong with drs?? Are you ok now? How long

did it take for all of your symptoms to go away?

please let me know. take care, sue

I had a bit of liposuction done on my abdomen to even out an ugly

vertical c-section scar. I did have some strange sensations in my

abdomen, including burning, pulling, lumpiness and tightness that

took several months to completely clear up. I ended up pulling a

muscle in my abdomen when I was recovering. My surgeon injected a

steroid into the area to reduce the swelling. The steroid caused

the tissue to atrophy so I had to have fat grafted from my thigh and

reinjected into my abdomen. This was nothing short of another lipo

procedure with me awake! They took fat from my leg and reinjected

it into my abdomen. My thigh swelled and bruised quite a lot. It

has been three weeks since the second procedure and my leg is still

sore and slightly swollen. How long has it been since your lipo

procedure? Do you know if they removed much fat? The more fat that

is removed, the rougher the procedure is. Because I am quite thin,

my doctor used a small canula and removed only a small portion of

fat. He said the more that is removed the rougher the recovery.

Hi Sue,

My abdomen is lumpy where the canula was inserted and is still somewhat

painful but nothing terrible. My thigh is still a bit bruised and feels

bruised but the weird sensations and true pain are gone. What seems odd to

me is that you improved so much and then became worse. Did you take

antibiotics after your procedures? I drug my feet but even my ND insisted

that I take one. If you don't, the area can become infected and require

additional treatment. If you are having burning and throbbing sensations

and you are feeling worse overall, I would definitely be checked to be

certain that your lipo'd areas aren't infected. 800cc's doesn't sound like

a tremendous amount of fat to me, I'm trying to imagine 400 one cc syringes.

:) My plastic surgeon did warn me that in some people, the injection would

cause atrophy. Of course he didn't think it would happen to me and sure

didn't want it to because I am so thin to begin with and don't have many

places to pull fat from. He acted like I needed the injections so I let him

do it. I should know by now if there is a strange reaction that can be had,

I'll be the one to get it!

I hope you start feeling well soon!
