Guest guest
Following on from my last post, I have been taking Isocort for about 3 weeks now, but have got tireder and weaker, and crash more frequently. I put myself on Isocort in an attempt to recover my adrenals from a massive crash over Christmas, which was due to taking T4 meds. Since then I have been taking no thyroid medication except thyroxine-free thyroid glandulars. I know these contain no hormones, but they hold back some of the symptoms, as I found when I came off them for two days. All my old symptoms came back - carpal tunnel syndrome, pain between the shoulder blades, hot flushes. I am waiting for a second appointment with a Hertoghe doctor, and this will probably happen in around 4 weeks time. This feels like a lifetime, as I am barely getting through the day now, in spite of the Isocort. I wonder whether the Isocort has made the thyroid situation worse?, or whether my hypothyroidism is getting worse (which would be understandable, as I am not taking any meds). I have had to increase and increase the Isocort dose - I am now taking 10-12 a day, the bulk of which in the morning. I can't buy cortef online. My latest test results are: TSH 7.22 (this is a sharp increase from 4.17 at Christmas) Free T3 - 2.7 (range 2.0 - 4.4) Free T4 12.5 (range 9.3 - 17.0) Ac. Antithyr anti-TPO <5.0 (range 0-50) Would these results be making me feel very fatigued and a bit achy (thumbjoints in particular) or is it because I am treating the adrenals without the thyroid? I have Thyroid S here at home, and because my appointment is such a long time away, I am tempted to try 1/4 grain tomorrow and at least start off the process. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks Nicola
