Now Dad, you know that we cannot deal with ALL those diseases today so just make

sure you are in line at 9AM...I'm on my 4th shot already but will save you an

extra sip if you promise to straighten up!~~~Debbie

When I feel the worse you give me a case of the giggles.  Thank you!

I will be moving but it will be across the DFW are to an assisted apt.  Then

when needed, when I am worse before the transplant, they will be able to move me

to a different group.  My son's wife and her friend have found a few places for

me to look at that will be hours closes to two of my sons.

Wish you were here to go with me.....heck wish the whole gang were here......All

questions would be asked and some might even get me an ashtray (I don't smoke

just tease.)

 Love, Lyncia

Hey now, this is enough. I have work to do today and don't want to miss any

of this. My company will be coming into a very dirty trailer to stay here,

and clothes won't get washed. Mother says stop it. lol Jan H

Lyncia - ah, go ahead, just give me about an hour to get out of here to

start my work. Anyone want to come and help me clean this house, the

trailer, do laundry, practice for choir practice tomorrow and church on

Sunday. Everybody else around here does about 15 minutes of work and then

takes a 2 hour break. And this is a " step " granddaughter who is coming, not

any of my family. Ed is watching his judge shows. Jan H

Lyncia, this is wonderful news!  I am so happy that you will be closer to your

sons and their families and will be in a place where any future needs can be

easily met.  Praise the Lord for answering our prayers and providing

encouragement and companionship for you!

Warm Hugs...........

Weeeelllllllllllllll, I'll have to round up my stickers and share with you!

Before I got my first gastric stimulator, constipation was a constant in my

life.  I often would go 2-3 weeks without a movement.  After my first implant,

the most joyful part of my life was the ability to finally be able to GO at

least every 2-3 days.  My sister ran a business at the time that made signs.

For Christmas, 2004, she gave me a gag gift.......a box of peel-off stickers

that had a very happy lady dancing on them with the quote " I pooped in the

potty; I pooped in the potty! " on them!  We all laughed till we nearly wet our

pants when I opened them.  So, I'll have to see if I can find one and send it to

you!!!!!  Love you Lyncia!

Wish you were here to go with me.....heck wish the whole gang were here......All

questions would be asked and some might even get me an ashtray (I don't smoke

just tease.)

, I am so sorry your Mom is having to deal with this.  IBS can be very

painful and life altering.  I have suffered with bouts of constipation/diahrrea

for most of my life.  Although it is better with the stimulator, I still have

times of dealing with it.  Your Mom's doctor is right, I would say.  I can deal

much more easily with the constipation than the diahrrea.  Neither is pleasant

and both can be painful, but the pure embarrasment of dealing with 'accidents'

when suffering with the diahrrea is enough to tip the scale for me.

As for what can be done, I never found much that helped either way.  I have been

on every laxative available to mankind at one point or the other.  Conversely, I

have also taken every known anti-diahrreal agent.  As I've already said, nothing

ever really helped much.  It was just something I learned to live with.  I

cannot begin to name all the doctors I've seen over the years in just trying to

get a diagnosis as to what the problem was.  I was finally diagnosed with

idiopathis gastroparesis in April, 1996.

The one medication that I ever took that really made any difference, Propulsid,

was pulled from the market place by the FDA and was made available only through

clinical trial programs.  I joined a program, but was dropped because I could

not keep my appointments due to my symptoms.  If you missed three appointments,

you were dropped from the program.  I managed to make it for a bit over two

years before being dropped.  However, I cannot tell you how many times I had to

change clothing at the doctor's office, enroute to the appointment or on the way

home from the appointment over the years.

I have had a gastric stimulator since October, 2004.  It helps tremendously, but

it is not a cure.  I was recently visiting with my niece in Iowa.  We went out

for a day of site-seeing when, with no warning, the diahrrea hit and I could not

get to the bathroom quickly enough.  I had to go into a bathroom and have my

niece bring my clean clothes from the car to me.  I washed up as best I could

and changed clothes, throwing my soiled clothing into the garbage because I had

no way of getting them cleaned and we were 3 hours from home at the time.

I take Prevacid 2-3 times daily to deal with the reflux and gas and Carafate 2-3

times daily to deal with the inflammation of always having undigested food in my

tummy.  The stimulator provides electrical impules to my vagus nerve to help my

tummy empty; otherwise it just does not empty.  I still have nausea every day,

but thankfully the vomiting has decreased markedly and the constipation/diahrrea

is almost managable when the stimulator is working.  I just had it replaced in

July and am still in the process of getting it calibrated to best suit my

bodies' needs.

The best advice I can offer for your Mom is to do as her doctor says and watch

her diet.  There are certain things I just cannot eat or I will be sick.  I

cannot eat raw green veggies or I will have explosive diahrrea for several days

afterwards.  My tummy best accepts high carb foods, but those are the exact ones

I don't need to eat due to the fact that I am a diabetic.  Proteins work well

with my tummy, but we all know where that road will lead with liver

disease.  So, I just do the best I can and don't worry about it.

I do hope your Mom will decide to take better care of herself and follow her

doctor's advice.  I cannot guarantee it will make her feel better, but it is

sure worth a try.

BTW, reading what you said about them having been married for 40 years and still

will not fart in front of each other made me laugh.  Lord, I cannot think of a

bodily function Terry and I did not have to undertake in front of the other at

some point or the other over the years of dealing with our health problems and

his accident recovery.  I guess I'm just not very lady-like; but as my Maw

Mc used to say  " there's more room out than there is in " !!!  :)

Praying for you and for your Mom sweetie!

Warm Hugs...........

Weeeellllllllllllll l, I'll have to round up my stickers and share with you!

Di,yea that is funny about how they are with each other,I brought her over here

last week to give her a good bathing, and was joking around with her abot bodily

functions, and said " EVERYONE FARTS MOM!! " everyone, with my lactulose my Bob

laughs at how long some of mine are, ladylike or not, air inside you is awful.I

will tell her about the gastric stimulator,I know she's never heard of one,the

food thing is touchy also, she is diabetic, she loves carbs, but they don't love

her,she also has COPD from smoking 3 packs a day until last year, now she's on

oxygen and being so over weight doesn't help much, thats partly why she got the

black jellybeans and flannel pajamas, cancer why not?I'm the clown in the

family, and very good at going over and making them laugh having to deal with all

of my own problems,it is a stress reliever.I tell her if we all threw our

problems in a pile and everyone else's-----we'd grab our back:) Thank you for

being you!   hugs,

,

They used to give children a tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil a day and I

don't think thats a bad idea. It keeps you regular from what I

understand. She might be all clogged up. That happened to my son

when he was little and is very unhealthy and can actually be life

threatening. He would go to the bathroom all day long it was almost

like he had diarea all the time. Some would leak out around the clog

is what the doctor told me. The doctor said take him home and give

him 2 enemas. He wasn't a happy camper but it worked like a charm! I

think he is still mad at me for that and he is now 18. Hehe. Just

some ideas for you she might be receptive too. Also taking daily

fiber works well. The kind you add to juice.

I spent the first 30 years of my life frequently going 3 weeks without a

bowel movement. I guess I thought it was normal, so never did anything

about it. Well, I did roll around on the floor and moan and groan while my

bowels were starting to move, and screamed bloody murder when it first

started coming out. If I took a laxative, it was just as painful. Then

they came out with correctal, probable similar to the stool softeners today,

took it every day for at least a year, maybe two and pretty soon I was

fairly regular. Before I recently started feeling sick to my stomach after

most meals, I would get up in the mornings and 1/2 hour later, gravity would

do its work. The doctors told me it was probably because I have an extra

long colon. I hope they find something for your mom, and hope she doesn't

have as much pain as I did. Jan H

I have found too that after having a colonoscopy I would have more trouble.

watch out this is graphic. Before the colonoscopy, you have to empty your

colon of anything in there, or they can't see what they need to see. After

the colonoscopy, nothing starts going through that tube until you eat

again. But that doesn't fill the tube. You have to eat a few meals to

fill it. So, there is nothing down at the rectum to come out. For some

reason, my colon would go back to its usual/ old behavior and not empty. It

would get all dried up and then really hurt when I would force it out. I

have extreme hemorroids and a pocket where the feces clogs up just prior to

the opening of the rectum. I don't remember how long it is since her

colonoscopy, but that might be a contributing factor. Also, I realized that

if I don't drink as much water as I need, it would be harder. And diet was

definitely a factor when I was not going for 2 to3 weeks. Jan H

It is so true, laughter is the best medicine!  When life is so heavy it seems

you cannot keep going, a good belly laugh will strengthen you and propel you

forward for yet another battle.  I am so happy your parents have you to help

lighten their load and keep them laughing.  It sounds like your Mom is dealing

with a lot.  My Dad has COPD and is on oxygen therapy 24/7.  I know how that can

get one down.  Daddy has started to have so many sinus infections, in addition

to the usual lung things and chronic pnuemonia he was already dealing with.  It

seems like we're in the doctor's office at least once every 10-14 days now.  I

feel so bad for him.  Dealing with COPD, IBS, Diabetes and obesity is a burden.

Again, I am so happy she has you.

Warm Hugs...........

Di,yea that is funny about how they are with each other,I brought her over here

last week to give her a good bathing, and was joking around with her abot bodily

functions, and said " EVERYONE FARTS MOM!! " everyone, with my lactulose my Bob

laughs at how long some of mine are, ladylike or not, air inside you is awful.I

will tell her about the gastric stimulator,I know she's never heard of one,the

food thing is touchy also, she is diabetic, she loves carbs, but they don't love

her,she also has COPD from smoking 3 packs a day until last year, now she's on

oxygen and being so over weight doesn't help much, thats partly why she got the

black jellybeans and flannel pajamas, cancer why not?I'm the clown in the

family, and very good at going over and making them laugh having to deal with all

of my own problems,it is a stress reliever.I tell her if we all threw our

problems in a pile and everyone else's-----we' d grab our back:) Thank you for

being you!   hugs,

Weeeellllllllllllll l, I'll have to round up my stickers and share with you!

All cod liver oil ever did for me was make me vomit and fiber bound me up

tighter, but that's because of the gastroparesis, maybe it will work for your

Mom.  I pray it does.
