We were given various Voodoo explanations about hormone receptors, and "pushing through" bad symptoms to go through puberty again. Some of us were on WP three months and got permanent linea nigra, some 18 months. Some of us lost hair, others got fat, depressed, others got whiskers, ended up in the emergency room, had hysterectomies...

All of these explanation originate with Wiley and are passed along by the handful of irresponsible practitioners left who go along her without asking for scientific documentation.

There is a Youtube video on wileywatch.org where a woman asks Wiley how she knows something and Wiley answers "because that's the way it works." If you want to accept this Voodoo non-answer despite the fact that your body is telling you it's enduring pregnancy levels of hormones, you do so at your own risk.

If a practitioner is irresponsible enough to still be prescribing WP after all the casualties, I would be wary of any explanations. There are so many good bioidentical regimens around, I'm not clear why anyone would stick to a regimen which has made so many women sick.

I was thinking of going off, but I have noticed (on the 5th month now) that the linea negra is decreasing (which was what I thought it was supposed to do once the progesterone receptors came back)....
